The three volume set LNCS 8834, LNCS 8835, and LNCS 8836 constitutes the proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2014, held in Kuching, Malaysia, in November 2014. Computational Intelligence and Security
The two volume set LNAI 3801 and LNAI 3802 constitute the refereed proceedings of the annual International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Security, CIS 2005, held in Xi'an, China, in December 2005. The 338 revised papers presented - 254 regular and 84 extended papers - were carefully reviewed and selected from over 1800 submissions. The first volume is organized in topical sections on learning and fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, intelligent agents and systems, intelligent information retrieval, support vector machines, swarm intelligence, data mining, pattern recognition, and applications. The second volume is subdivided in topical sections on cryptography and coding, cryptographic protocols, intrusion detection, security models and architecture, security management, watermarking and information hiding, web and network applications, image and signal processing, and applications.
Advances in Natural Computation
Annotation. This is volume I of the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Natural Computation, ICNC 2006. After a demanding review process 168 carefully revised full papers and 86 revised short papers were selected from 1915 submissions for presentation in two volumes. This first volume includes 130 papers related to artificial neural networks, natural neural systems and cognitive science, neural network applications, as well as evolutionary computation: theory and algorithms.
Advances in Natural Computation
This is volume II of the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Natural Computation, ICNC 2006. After a demanding review process 168 carefully revised full papers and 86 revised short papers were selected from 1915 submissions for presentation in two volumes. The 124 papers in the second volume are organized in topical sections on additional topics in natural computation, natural computation techniques applications, hardware, and cross-disciplinary topics.

The seven-volume set of LNCS 11301-11307 constitutes the proceedings of the 25th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2018, held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, in December 2018. The 401 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 575 submissions. The papers address the emerging topics of theoretical research, empirical studies, and applications of neural information processing techniques across different domains. The 5th volume, LNCS 11305, is organized in topical sections on prediction; pattern recognition; and word, text and document processing.
Computer Vision -- ACCV 2009
It givesus greatpleasureto presentthe proceedings of the 9th Asian Conference on Computer Vision (ACCV 2009), held in Xi’an, China, in September 2009. This was the ?rst ACCV conference to take place in mainland China. We received a total of 670 full submissions, which is a new record in the ACCV series. Overall, 35 papers were selected for oral presentation and 131 as posters, yielding acceptance rates of 5.2% for oral, 19.6% for poster, and 24.8% in total. In the paper reviewing, we continued the tradition of previous ACCVsbyconductingtheprocessinadouble-blindmanner.Eachofthe33Area Chairs received a pool of about 20 papers and nominated a number of potential reviewers for each paper. Then, Program Committee Chairs allocated at least three reviewers to each paper, taking into consideration any con?icts of interest and the balance of loads. Once the reviews were ?nished, the Area Chairs made summaryreportsforthepapersintheirpools,basedonthereviewers’comments and on their own assessments of the papers.

Advanced Biometrics with Deep Learning
Biometrics, such as fingerprint, iris, face, hand print, hand vein, speech and gait recognition, etc., as a means of identity management have become commonplace nowadays for various applications. Biometric systems follow a typical pipeline, that is composed of separate preprocessing, feature extraction and classification. Deep learning as a data-driven representation learning approach has been shown to be a promising alternative to conventional data-agnostic and handcrafted pre-processing and feature extraction for biometric systems. Furthermore, deep learning offers an end-to-end learning paradigm to unify preprocessing, feature extraction, and recognition, based solely on biometric data. This Special Issue has collected 12 high-quality, state-of-the-art research papers that deal with challenging issues in advanced biometric systems based on deep learning. The 12 papers can be divided into 4 categories according to biometric modality; namely, face biometrics, medical electronic signals (EEG and ECG), voice print, and others.

The two volume set LNCS 6443 and LNCS 6444 constitutes the proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2010, held in Sydney, Australia, in November 2010. The 146 regular session papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 470 submissions. The papers of part I are organized in topical sections on neurodynamics, computational neuroscience and cognitive science, data and text processing, adaptive algorithms, bio-inspired algorithms, and hierarchical methods. The second volume is structured in topical sections on brain computer interface, kernel methods, computational advance in bioinformatics, self-organizing maps and their applications, machine learning applications to image analysis, and applications.
AI 2005: Advances in Artificial Intelligence
The 18th Australian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI 2005) was held at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Sydney, Australia from 5 to 9 December 2005. AI 2005 attracted a historical record number of submissions, a total of 535 papers. The review process was extremely selective. Out of these 535 submissions, the Program Chairs selected only 77 (14.4%) full papers and 119 (22.2%) short papers based on the review reports, making an acceptance rate of 36.6% in total. Authors of the accepted papers came from over 20 countries. This volume of the proceedings contains the abstracts of three keynote speeches and all the full and short papers. The full papers were categorized into three broad sections, namely: AI foundations and technologies, computational intelligence, and AI in specialized domains. AI 2005 also hosted several tutorials and workshops, providing an interacting mode for specialists and scholars from Australia and other countries. Ronald R. Yager, Geoff Webb and David Goldberg (in conjunction with ACAL05) were the distinguished researchers invited to give presentations. Their contributions to AI 2005 are really appreciated.
