High-throughput technologies are those that allow the generation of large-scale data related to omic analysis (such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, phenomics, and metabolomics). Currently, the development and use of these technologies has gone hand-in-hand with the development of bioinformatics tools, which have allowed the integration of omics-based data to understand crucial knowledge about the molecular systems that underlie the various functions of the plants. In recent years, there has been a huge development in the field of high-throughput biology, which is attributed to an era of tech startups. Genomics studies in plants, for instance, have benefited from advances in high-th...
"Phenomics" is an emerging area of research whose aspiration is the systematic measurement of the physical, physiological and biochemical traits (the phenome) belonging to a given individual or collection of individuals. Non-destructive or minimally invasive techniques allow repeated measurements across time to follow phenotypes as a function of developmental time. These longitudinal traits promise new insights into the ways in which crops respond to their environment including how they are managed. To maximize the benefit, these approaches should ideally be scalable so that large populations in multiple environments can be sampled repeatedly at reasonable cost. Thus, the development and validation of non-contact sensing technologies remains an area of intensive activity that ranges from Remote Sensing of crops within the landscape to high resolution at the subcellular level. Integration of this potentially highly dimensional data and linking it with variation at the genetic level is an ongoing challenge that promises to release the potential of both established and under-exploited crops.

Document from the year 2021 in the subject Biology - Zoology, , language: English, abstract: This book includes compiled information about science and technology. It focuses on developments in India. Discussed topics are for example: Plants of Religious Value, Diversity and Socioeconomic Importance of different medical Plants, Synthesis and characterization of Ni-doped Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles, Environmental Impacts of Tourism Activities or the Indirect Impact of SARS-CoV-2 on Environmental Quality and Waste Management. Each of these topics were analyzed in detail by multiple authors, using a diverse range of scientific scources.
This book provides a compact analysis for students and early-career practitioners of the critical connections between place capitals and the broader practices of planning, seeded within rural communities. It introduces the breadth of the discipline, presenting examples of what planning means and what it can achieve in different rural places.
This book describes the historical importance of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.),potato genetic resources and stocks (including S. tuberosum group Phureja DM1-3 516 R44, a unique doubled monoploid homozygous line) used for potato genome sequencing. It also discusses strategies and tools for high-throughput sequencing, sequence assembly, annotation, analysis, repetitive sequences and genotyping-by-sequencing approaches. Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.; 2n = 4x = 48) is the fourth most important food crop of the world after rice, wheat and maize and holds great potential to ensure both food and nutritional security. It is an autotetraploid crop with complex genetics, acute inbreeding depression and...
The aim of the monographs is to foster effective intra- and interdisciplinary communication between geneticists, and plant and animal breeders. This is to be achieved by publishing authoritative up-to-date texts; concise, but at the same time comprehensive, monographs, and multiauthor volumes on theoretical and applied genetics. The following broad fields of genetics and breeding are within the scope of the series: Evolutionary genetics Developmental genetics Population genetics Biochemical genetics Ecological genetics Somatic cell genetics Biometrical genetics Agricultural genetics Cytogenetics Mutation breeding Radiation genetics Breeding methodology Acceptable subjects for the Monographs ...
