Puck and Moyamoya

Puck and Moyamoya is a therapeutic story. Puck has a disease of the arteries in her brain where small new arteries are made to solve the problem. An operation is often required. Puck and Moyamoya is intended for children who have problems arising from Moyamoya and who may or undergo brain surgery, or who already have. It is intended to explain the problem and make it open to discussion. For children, their parents, professionals in care and teachers. ABOUT THE AUTHORS Martine F. Delfos, is biopsychologist and works with multiple traumatized children and adults. For the first therapeutic children's books she received the Wilhelmina price. The second author and inspirator for this book is Annick Kronenburg. She has come up with the idea to make a book for children with Moyamoya. The book is given its form by collaboration. Annick Kronenburg is in training as a neurosurgeon at UMC Utrecht specializing in Moyamoya and her PhD research is about Moyamoya. She is part of the Moyamoya team of UMC Utrecht, where children (and adults) are treated for Moyamoya from the Netherlands and Belgium, among others.

Trends in Neurovascular Interventions

This book covers topical issues in neurovascular surgery, and in particular the management of intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and cavernomas, current trends in cerebral revascularization, and new concepts in cerebrovascular imaging. The contents reflect the continuing developments in interventions in cerebrovascular disorders as a result of progress in neuroimaging, evolution of pathophysiological concepts, new clinical trials, and technological innovations. The chapters are all written by acknowledged experts from across the world, and comprise original papers presented at the 6th European Japanese Stroke Surgery Conference, held in June 2012 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The book will be of value to all who are interested in the latest developments in the field and offers fascinating insights into varied perspectives and techniques.

A luminary in the field of cerebrovascular surgery brings his pace-setting work on the surgical management of moyamoya disease to the neurosurgical community When the rare stroke strikes in children and youth, a likely cause is the idiopathic disease moyamoya, characterized by the slow and progressive stenosis and occlusion of the internal carotid artery and the arteries of the circle of Willis. A result of these stenoses is the formation of collaterals that are typically small and fragile, and liable to rupture. While there is no cure for moyamoya, a variety of surgical procedures can be performed to re-establish and maintain adequate blood supply to the affected brain areas. The procedures...

Unconcealed describes the emergence of Conceptual art in Northern Europe through the growth of an international network of artists, dealers, museum curators, collectors and critics. A detailed account of this decade (1967-1977) is accompanied by an extensive set of previously unpublished data that charts the exhibitions and sales of Conceptual works to galleries, public institutions and private collections. The relationships, support structures and strategies of dealer galleries such as Konrad Fischer, Wide White Space and Lisson Gallery to promote artists such as Marcel Broodthaers, Richard Long and Lawrence Weiner are revealed and make fascinating reading. Unconcealed exposes the new dealing, curatorial, collecting and teaching methods formed in this decade that continue to be critical to today's art world.

Endoscopic Approaches to the Skull Base

Reviews the role of endoscopic endonasal techniques During the last decade the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) to the skull base has become a very powerful method to add to the array of neurosurgical technologies. This volume provides a broad overview of the role of transnasal approaches in a wide spectrum of skull base diseases. It starts with a historical perspective of the evolution from the microscope to the endoscope in endonasal surgery and then explores in depth the principles and techniques of the various methods. Discussed are topics based on anatomical boundaries: pituitary fossa to the suprasellar space to the cavernous sinus, clivus and the anterior cranial fossa. Access to t...
