Crusades
Crusades covers seven hundred years from the First Crusade (1095-1102) to the fall of Malta (1798) drawing together scholars working on war, theology, law, literature, art, numismatics and economic, social, political and military history. It publishes both historical sources of the Crusades - narrative, homiletic and documentary - in European and oriental languages, and interpretative studies. This thesis is divided in two parts. The first part is a study comparing different foams and their future uses in the design of snowboards to dampen vibrations and shocks during snowboarding. The other part explains the tests done on motorcycle components. The foams study focuses on the comparison of eight different pads, finding their proprieties and characteristics. School children around the world are taught that Christopher Columbus was Italian, or, more precisely, a Genoese who sailed to the New World for the Spanish only because that country’s sovereigns gave him the money for the project; many scholars throughout history, however, have cast doubt onto this version of the explorer’s story. After digging up these counter-cultural theories and discussing their individual merits and prejudices, this scholarly investigation selects the theory most likely to be true: Christopher Columbus was a Catalan, born in the principality of Catalonia, a member of a family hostile to the dynasty that ruled his newly united country.
El cartulari de Xestalgar
Al País Valencià és poca la documentació conservada pertanyent a les senyories laiques, en contraposició a altres dominis més potents, com les institucions eclesiàstiques. Tot i això, a la Biblioteca de Catalunya es conserva un còdex, fins ara gairebé desconegut, relatiu a l’alqueria de Xestalgar, a la comarca dels Serrans. El propòsit del còdex fou, segons l''autor, deixar manifesta la jurisdicció que els senyors de Xestalgar exerciren sobre el seu terme i la forma de transmissió dels seus drets, des de Jaume I -que l’any 1238 la cedí a Rodrigo Ortís- fins els comtes d’Alcúdia. Ara bé, la major part de la documentació abasta tan solament el període feudal on es configurà aquesta jurisdicció.
