CLARIN
CLARIN, the "Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure", has established itself as a major player in the field of research infrastructures for the humanities. This volume provides a comprehensive overview of the organization, its members, its goals and its functioning, as well as of the tools and resources hosted by the infrastructure. The many contributors representing various fields, from computer science to law to psychology, analyse a wide range of topics, such as the technology behind the CLARIN infrastructure, the use of CLARIN resources in diverse research projects, the achievements of selected national CLARIN consortia, and the challenges that CLARIN has faced and will face in the future. The book will be published in 2022, 10 years after the establishment of CLARIN as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium by the European Commission (Decision 2012/136/EU). Stylistics, Stylometry and Sentiment Analysis in German Studies
Can literature be investigated through quantitative methods? Can style, empathy, and prestige be measured? This study attempts to respond to these questions by providing results from a selection of case studies taken from German literature of the 19th through the 21st century, including Goethe’s “late style”, Felix Salten, and the output of contemporary writers such as Florian Meimberg’s “twitterature” and Daniel Glattauer’s e-mail novel. Altogether, this study shows how the interplay among literary theory, stylometry, stylistics, sentiment analysis, empirical studies, and archival research can offer new answers to old questions regarding German literature and provide tools to formulate new questions and novel approaches to research.
History of Philosophy and the Reflective Society
This book is about innovation, reflection and inclusion. Cultural innovation is something real that tops up social and technological innovation by providing the reflective society with spaces of exchange in which citizens engage in the process of sharing their experiences while appropriating common goods content. We are talking of public spaces such as universities, academies, libraries, museums, science-centres, but also of any place in which co-creation activities may occur. The argument starts with the need for new narratives in the history of philosophy, which can be established through co-creation, the motor of cultural innovation. The result is redefining the history of philosophy in terms of a dialogical civilization by ensuring continuous translations, individual processes of reflection and collective processes of inclusion. Readers will grasp the effectiveness of the history of philosophy in societies that are inclusive, innovative and reflective.
Adorno, Heidegger, and the Politics of Truth
An elusive and complex idea of truth lies at the center of Theodor Adorno's thought. Yet he never spells out what it is. Through close readings of Negative Dialectics, Aesthetic Theory, and related course lectures, Lambert Zuidervaart reconstructs Adorno's conception of truth, contrasts it with the conceptions of Martin Heidegger and Michel Foucault, and explores its relevance for contemporary philosophy, art, and politics. Adorno regards truth as a dynamic constellation in which various dialectical polarities intersect. The most decisive polarity, Zuidervaart argues, occurs between society as it has developed and the historical possibility of a completely transformed world. Critically reconstructed, Adorno's conception of truth can help inspire hopeful critiques of an allegedly post-truth society.

Scholarly editions contextualize our cultural heritage. Traditionally, methodologies from the field of scholarly editing are applied to works of literature, e.g. in order to trace their genesis or present their varied history of transmission. What do we make of the variance in other types of cultural heritage? How can we describe, record, and reproduce it systematically? From medieval to modern times, from image to audiovisual media, the book traces discourses across different disciplines in order to develop a conceptual model for scholarly editions on a broader scale. By doing so, it also delves into the theory and philosophy of the (digital) humanities as such.

Die Studie widmet sich der Frage nach der Bedeutung und Funktion von Textualität und Darstellungsform für die Philosophie im Allgemeinen und Nietzsches Denken im Besonderen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Lektüre ausgewählter Kapitel der Götzen-Dämmerung. Die Konsequenzen der Schriftlichkeit von Philosophie werden herausgearbeitet. Dabei wird auch die in Nietzsches Nachlass umfangreich dokumentierte Genese des Werkes in ihrer Überlieferungsform berücksichtigt. Durch die Anknüpfung an die Nietzsche-Forschung, an aktuelle text- und editionstheoretische sowie an philosophische Debatten wie die Frage nach Formen nichtpropositionalen Wissens zeichnet die Studie die philosophisch-kognitive Valenz der textuellen Darstellungsformen der Götzen-Dämmerung nach. Dabei werden insbesondere die Rolle von Selbstbezüglichkeitsfiguren sowie der von diesen häufig katalysierten ästhetischen oder intratextuellen Autosubversionen freigelegt.
