URBAN COASTAL AREA CONFLICTS ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY
This volume is the completed section of the process of analytical research and methodological comparisons undertaken by SECOA, a 48-month research project selected and funded by the EU under the FP7 program. Hence, while scientifically autonomous, the volume is a natural link between the different phases of analysis within SECOA, i.e. Work Packages (WPs) 1-5, and the interpretive and predictive values that are being drawn up by WPs 7 and 8. Within the overall scope of SECOA's research activity, this volume's task was to supply answers to questions that will undergo further study by research groups. ENVIRONMENTAL STRESSES AND RESOURCE USE IN COASTAL URBAN AND PERI-URBAN REGIONS
This book is one of the outputs from the EU FP7 research project SECOA, Solutions for Environmental Contrasts in Coastal Areas, working in the period December 20019 – 1 December 2013. In the project participated five countries from EU and three partners are from outside Europe. The main goals of the project were to analyze conflicts on resource use in urban, coastal areas with special emphasis on urbanization and mobility and in the context of global environmental changes. One of the work packages in the project was dedicated to work on Environmental stresses on the natural resources in the urban coastal context. The work package on Environmental stresses and resource use for sustainable development was led by Dr Tran Dinh Lan. Specific studies on this theme was performed by the partners as 17 case studies, two (one country had three) per country, which yielded a large data set presented in this volume. The case studies were all first written as national reports and were also compiled in a project deliverable, D2.2.
Abu Tbeirah Excavations I. Area 1
This book presents the results of the archaeological activities and specialistic studies carried out at the site of Abu Tbeirah (Nasiriyah, Province of Dhi Qar, southern Iraq) by the Iraqi-Italian joint mission of the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage and of Sapienza, led by F. D’Agostino and L. Romano (Dipartimento – Istituto Italiano di Studi Orientali). In the volume the accomplishments of the first seven campaigns (2011-2016) are introduced together with an assessment of the palaeo-environment and landscape surrounding the site. After an introduction to the reasons that led to start the archaeological activities in Abu Tbeirah, written by HE Dr A. Al-Hamdani, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Iraq, the diggings in the south-eastern Area 1 are presented (the cemetery and the other activities identified immediately under the top-soil and the last phase of Building A). A preliminary assessment on the Early-Dynastic III/Akkadian Transition pottery horizon (2450-2150 BC) is presented as well. At the same time, the multifaceted analyses and studies, carried out on Abu Tbeirah’s site and findings, are included in the volume.

Mappa. Pisa in the Middle Ages
This volume represents the third edition of a work cycle that started in 2006 for my PhD thesis. The thesis was presented in 2010 (first edition, Gattiglia 2010), partially published as a summary monograph in 2011 (second edition, Gattiglia 2011) or in articles (Gattiglia 2012, Gattiglia 2012a, Gattiglia 2011a), and now (third edition) takes the form of a more comprehensive publication in the light of new data. Over the past two years, the work study on Pisa, not only relating to the Middle Ages, continued within the MAPPA (Metodologie Applicate alla Predittività del Potenziale – Methodologies Applied to Archaeological Potential Predictivity) project, allowing a widespread collection of data thanks to which it was possible to explain more fully the hydro-geological, geomorphological and topographic context and to check (and in many cases change) part of the assumptions made.
Precious Coral and the Legacy of the Coral Road
Drawing on diverse perspectives, this collection of 12 essays and around 150 colour illustrations explores the history and mysteries of the “Coral Road” from the Mediterranean to Japan. From Italy, with its ancient traditions of deep-sea coral fishery, production and trade, the reader is transported to Tibet and India, where coral has long been revered as a Buddhist treasure and amulet.
