Innovation is a major challenge for economic development and social progress. Faced with the ecological and food problems that the world is currently experiencing, the legitimacy of innovation takes on its full meaning, particularly in developing countries. As emphasized by international organizations (UN, FAO), building skills and abilities in the agricultural and food sectors are necessary when launching innovation processes for the benefit of suffering populations. This book deals with different experiences launched in many developing countries in these sectors and shows how local initiatives can provide answers to the pessimism of experts and the media. Multidisciplinary analysis and practices explain how collective work creates value chains that can foster local and national economic development. Innovation Processes in Agro-Ecological Transitions in Developing Countries
This book investigates the interactions between different shifts in innovation models. It underlines ecological conditions and production intensification in the agriculture sector. In total six innovation processes were analyzed in different countries such as Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Haiti, Madagascar and Senegal. The similarities between these case studies are that they all demonstrate that sustainable and sufficient network between actors of the innovation are particularly useful for the development of agricultural innovation systems. The different papers demonstrate that there is a need for more commitment of public policy in innovation processes.

Innovation and Interdisciplinary Solutions for Underserved Areas
This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the First International Conference on Innovation and Interdisciplinary Solutions for Underserved Areas, InterSol 2017, and the 6th Collogue National sur la Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications (CNRIA), held in Dakar, Senegal, in April 2017. The 15 papers presented at InterSol were selected from 76 submissions and are grouped thematically in science, energy and environment, education, innovation, and healthcare. The proceedings also contain 13 papers from the co-located 6th CNRIA (Collogue National sur la Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications) focusing on network architecture and security, software engineering, data management, and signal processing.

Beyond the Kitchen Table
Over the last decade, there has been an increasing amount of scholarship focused on race and food inequity. Much of this research is focused on the United States and its densely populated urban centers. Looking deeply into Black women's roles—economically, environmentally, and socially—in food and agriculture systems in the Caribbean, Africa, and the United States, the contributors address the ways Black women, both now and in the past, have used food as a part of community building and sustenance. They also examine matrilineal food-based education; the importance of Black women's social, cultural, and familial networks in addressing nutrition and food insecurity; the ways gender intersects with class and race globally when thinking about food; and how women-led science and technology initiatives can be used to create healthier and more just food systems.
