Techniques, Tools and Methodologies Applied to Global Supply Chain Ecosystems
This book presents the latest developments concerning techniques, tools, and methodologies in supply chain ecosystems. It gathers contributions from a variety of experts, who analyze a range of case studies and industrial sectors such as manufacturing, energy, agricultural, healthcare, humanitarian logistics, and urban goods distribution, to name but a few. The book is chiefly intended to meet the needs of two sectors: firstly, the academic sector, so as to familiarize students, professors, and researchers with the tools that are now being used to optimize supply chains; and secondly, the industrial and managerial sector, so that supply chain management practitioners can benefit from methods and tools that are yielding valuable results in other contexts.

La Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Económicas tiene entre sus objetivos misionales el apoyo a la investigación, a la difusión del conocimiento, a los estudios de la realidad nacional y el estímulo a la formación de investigadores, académicos y profesionales en el campo de la economía, que aporten su conocimiento al desarrollo integral y sostenible de la economía colombiana. Al publicar las ponencias ganadoras del concurso de FENADECO —Jesús Antonio Bejarano—, las cuales han sido presentadas cada año en los respectivos congresos, la Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Económicas reconoce el esfuerzo de los estudiantes y asume los resultados que han sido valorados como de alta calidad por parte de los jurados del Banco de la República. Confiamos en que este esfuerzo contribuya a cimentar el diálogo intergeneracional en los nuevos economistas, y que esta publicación sirva de soporte a la investigación económica en las diferentes universidades de la nación.
The effects of AI on the working lives of women
The development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) continue to expand opportunities for the achievement of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including gender equality. Taking a closer look at the intersection of gender and technology, this collaboration between UNESCO, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) examines the effects of AI on the working lives of women. This report describes the challenges and opportunities presented by the use of emerging technology such as AI from a gender perspective. The report highlights the need for more focus and research on the impacts of AI on women and the digital gender gap, in order to ensure that women are not left behind in the future of work.

Quality, Trade, and Exchange Rate Pass-Through
This paper investigates theoretically and empirically the heterogeneous response of exporters to real exchange rate fluctuations due to product quality. Our model shows that the elasticity of demand perceived by exporters decreases with a real depreciation and with quality, leading to more pricing-to-market and to a smaller response of export volumes to a real depreciation for higher quality goods. We test the proposed theory using a highly disaggregated Argentinean firm-level wine export dataset between 2002 and 2009 combined with experts wine rankings as a measure of quality. The model predictions find strong support in the data and the results are robust to different measures of quality, samples, specifications, and to the potential endogeneity of quality.
Inequality in the Developing World
Inequality has emerged as a key development challenge. It holds implications for economic growth and redistribution and translates into power asymmetries that can endanger human rights, create conflict, and embed social exclusion and chronic poverty. For these reasons, it underpins intense public and academic debates and has become a dominant policy concern within many countries and in all multilateral agencies. It is at the core of the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
