The two systems investigated here are both implicated, in extremely divergent ways, in cancer and cancer therapy. Crystal structures of the purine biosynthetic enzyme ATIC have provided several "snapshot" images that are now being incorporated into the design and development of potent anti-neoplastic compounds.
