Founded in 1971, the Academy of Marketing Science is an international organization dedicated to promoting timely explorations of phenomena related to the science of marketing in theory, research, and practice. Archaeologists, anthropologists, and classicists discuss how urbanization first emerged in strikingly different sociopolitical contexts in North America, Europe, and the Near East. The pursuit for universally applicable definitions of the terms urban and city has frequently distracted scholars from scrutinizing processes of how ancient nucleated settlements evolved and developed. Based on the premise that similar social dynamics to a great extent governed nucleation trajectories throughout human history, Coming Together focuses on both prehistoric aggregated and early urban settlements. Drawing from a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, archaeologists, anthropologists, and classicists discuss how nucleation unfolded in strikingly different sociopolitical contexts in North America, Europe, and the Near East. The major themes of the volume are nucleations origins, pathways to sustainability, and the transformative role of these sites in sociopolitical and cultural change.
EU/Turkey Relations in the Shadows of Crisis
Since Turkey’s EU accession has arguably come to a halt with the freezing of several negotiation chapters in 2005, Turkey and the European Union have been through many internal and global crises. As a result of these crises, while the priorities of both parties have changed, EU–Turkey relations advance still at a snail’s pace rather than totally breaking down. EU/Turkey Relations in the Shadows of Crisis: A Break-Up or Revival? aims to challenge the future of the relations between the European Union and Turkey by discussing the impact of the crises on not only the parties involved but also on their relations by displaying both imperfections in the EU/Turkey association and the future cooperation/accession alternatives between the European Union and Turkey.
