Handboek Forensische Gedragswetenschappen
De forensische geestelijke gezondheidszorg is een boeiend en tegelijk complex domein in volle ontwikkeling. Zij bevindt zich op het kruispunt van de geestelijke gezondheidszorg en het recht. Uiteenlopende vakspecialisten uit justitie en hulpverlening zijn hierbij op elkaar aangewezen. Voor een adequate samenwerking is kennis van de context waarin de verschillende actoren werken essentieel. Dit handboek bevat bijgevolg bijdragen van juristen, psychiaters, psychologen, orthopedagogen, criminologen, verpleegkundigen en maatschappelijk werkers. De auteurs zijn zowel academici als experten uit de praktijk. Zij behandelen uit beide gezichtspunten uiteenlopende wetenschaps- en praktijkdomeinen die van groot belang zijn voor de forensische geestelijke gezondheidszorg. Het handboek is ontwikkeld met het oog op de Permanente Vorming Forensische Gedragswetenschappen, georganiseerd door de Universiteit Gent, de Hogeschool Gent en de Arteveldehogeschool. Het geeft ook ruimer aan alle belanghebbende lezers waardevolle wetenschappelijke en multidisciplinaire inzichten mee over de forensische geestelijke gezondheidszorg in Vlaanderen.
Sterktes van mensen
De aanwijzingen nemen steeds meer toe: sterktegericht werken met mensen met een psychiatrische problematiek die strafbare feiten pleegden levert positieve resultaten op. Dit boek bundelt de beschikbare kennis en reikt handvatten aan om met deze aanpak in de praktijk aan de slag te gaan. Het bevat twee bijdragen van internationale experts: Fergus McNeill (University of Glasgow, UK) en Tony Ward (Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand) beschrijven de achtergronden en internationale toepassingen van het sterktegericht paradigma. Vijf hoofdstukken geven daarnaast de eerste resultaten weer van een interdisciplinaire studie van de Universiteit Gent naar sterktegerichte multidisciplinaire richtlijnen, aanbevelingen en strategieën voor deze doelgroep, en samen met de doelgroep. Hulpverleners, advocaten, magistraten, beleidsmakers en ervaringsdeskundigen zullen ongetwijfeld inspiratie vinden in deze uitgave.

The journal is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed publication. The International Journal of Child and Family Welfare publishes empirical papers (including meta-analyses) and review papers, dealing with issues related to all fields of child and family welfare and with issues related to child and youth care (e.g., home-based care, family foster care, residential youth care). The journal is specifically interested in studies that focus on care and treatment processes in association with outcomes and effects; these studies can generate more insights into how interventions work and what care aspects make a difference for vulnerabe children and families.
