Regional Assessment of Climate Change in the Mediterranean
Volume 2 of a three-volume final report thoroughly describes, synthesizes and analyzes the results of the four-year Integrated Research Project CIRCE – Climate Change and Impact Research: Mediterranean Environment, funded by the EU 6th Framework Programme. Conducted under the auspices of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Rome, Italy, CIRCE was designed to predict and to quantify the physical impacts of climate change in the Mediterranean, and to assess the most influential consequences for the region’s population. This volume incorporates Parts 3 and 4 of the report, reviewing current knowledge of observed climate variability and trends in the Mediterranean, and including descriptions of available temperature and precipitation station and gridded data sets.

Portugal a Quente e Frio
Há peixes tropicais a surgir na costa portuguesa. Há aves que deixaram de migrar para África e passam cá o Inverno. As amendoeiras estão a florir quase um mês mais cedo do que há 30 anos. Nas montanhas, as árvores estão a trepar para fugir ao calor. Na ilha da Madeira, os mosquitos que transmitem a dengue e a febre amarela chegaram, em 2004, e instalaram--se. Só não transmitem as doenças porque não estão infectados com osvírus. Há muitas incógnitas sobre o rumo que o clima do planeta tomará. Não se sabe onde está o ponto de ruptura do equilíbrio climático. Em parte, vai depender de nós e da maior ou menor quantidade de gases com efeito de estufa que atirarmos lá para cima nas próximas décadas. A Europa será dos continentes mais afectados e Portugal terá de enfrentar uma das maiores subidas regionais da temperatura. Há quem diga que Lisboa pode vir a ter a temperatura média actual de Rabat.
GROSSES KINO. O Cinema Mudo Alemão em Portugal
O objetivo principal deste livro é documentar e analisar a receção do cinema mudo de expressão alemã em Portugal desde o surgimento da sétima arte até ao aparecimento e implementação do filme sonoro no início da década dos anos 30. Além de aspetos estéticos e teóricos, investigam-se os fatores históricos, políticos, económicos e tecnológicos que determinaram a importação e distribuição das películas em apreço. Esta primeira apresentação de largo espectro da crítica cinematográfica portuguesa da época fornece uma base para posteriores estudos complementares e transdisciplinares. A abordagem foca o papel da imprensa especializada portuguesa como instrumento que registou e influenciou processos de seleção e a receção da produção cinematográfica alemã, austríaca e suíça em Portugal.
