National Identities and European Literatures
This volume of essays focuses on the configuration and the crisis of national and cultural identities in modern and contemporary Europe. Renowned contributors address the question of identity from various theoretical frames (Eagleton, Honneth, Bourdieu). The essays collected in the first and second part of the book study the relation between literature and culture as well as the decisive, yet ambiguous role that literature has played in the identitary processes of nations. The last part of the volume examines the history and the present relevance of specific identitary processes. In den Beiträgen der ersten beiden Teile erörtern sie die Wechselwirkungen von Literatur und Kultur sowie die Rolle, die der Literatur in nationalen Identitätsprozessen zukommt. Im letzten Teil werden Geschichte und Gegenwart einzelner Identitätsprozesse analysiert.
Innovation and Transition in Law: Experiences and Theoretical Settings
This book features a discussion on the modernisation of law and legal change, focusing on the key concepts of innovation" and "transition". These concepts both appear to be relevant and poorly defined in contemporary legal science. A critical reflection on the heuristic value of these categories seems appropriate, particularly considering their dyadic value. While innovation is increasingly appearing in the present day as being the category in which one looks at the modernisation of law, the concept of transition also seems to be the privileged place of occurrence for such dynamics. This group of Italian and Brazilian scholars contributing to this volume intends to investigate such problems through an interdisciplinary prism. It includes points of view both internal to legal studies - such as the history of law, theory of law, constitutional law, private law and commercial law - and external, such as political philosophy and history of justice and political institutions.

Convocamos as/os leitoras/es a “desler, tresler, contraler e enlear-se” (n)os variados gestos de interpretação materializados nos artigos aqui compilados, os quais foram apresentados no IX Seminário de Estudos em Análise do Discurso (SEAD), que teve como tema geral A Análise do Discurso e suas condições de produção: 1969-2019. O tema surgiu, por um lado, como uma forma de marcar os 50 anos do surgimento da teoria, mostrando o legado de Michel Pêcheux, sua atualidade e seu papel na consolidação da AD no Brasil, e, por outro, como uma maneira de indicar que a noção de condições de produção tem um lugar de centralidade nos estudos discursivos, mediante a qual podem ser percebidas as relações de forças que constituem toda e qualquer prática discursiva.

Poetics of Race constitutes a critically and theoretically innovative analysis of racial and ethnic dynamics in Latin America, and their symbolic – artistic, ideological – representation. The book illustrates the relevance of cultural and racial minorities in different national contexts (particularly in Mexico, Brazil, the Andean region and the Caribbean) through the study of literary, filmic and visual productions that depict otherness, marginalization and popular resistance. The book focuses on negritude, indigenous cultures, andinismo, performance and cinematic discourses in which racial issues are displayed, elaborated and symbolized.
