Identity Design

If you’re not happy most of the time it’s not because you don’t have what you want, it’s because you don’t know who you are. Identity Design is the research-driven guide to powerful and generous living. If you want more meaning in your life, you need to answer this question: Who do you want to be? Written by Judge Frank, a juvenile Court judge in Detroit who has spent years transforming the lives of young people facing extreme challenges, this is a personal manual for identity design

University of Baltimore

Since its founding in 1925, the University of Baltimore has become one of Maryland's premier educational institutions. Originally organized as a practical solution for working men and women seeking a college degree, the institution developed rapidly-the School of Law and the College of Business Administration, begun in the founding year as evening professional schools, were joined by a day division and, in 1937, a junior college. Finally, in 1961, the university began its College of Liberal Arts to meet the demand for a relatively low-cost, liberal arts college education. Containing over two hundred black-and-white photographs from the archives of the Langsdale Library, University of Baltimo...

At least nine million Americans trace their roots to Poland, and Polish Americans have contributed greatly to American history and society. During the largest period of immigration to the United States, between 1870 and 1920, more Poles came to the United States than any other national group except Italians. Additional large-scale Polish migration occurred in the wake of World War II and during the period of Solidarity's rise to prominence. This encyclopedia features three types of entries: thematic essays, topical entries, and biographical profiles. The essays synthesize existing work to provide interpretations of, and insight into, important aspects of the Polish American experience. The topical entries discuss in detail specific places, events or organizations such as the Polish National Alliance, Polish American Saturday Schools, and the Latimer Massacre, among others. The biographical entries identify Polish Americans who have made significant contributions at the regional or national level either to the history and culture of the United States, or to the development of American Polonia.

Win Some, Lose Some

Helen Berthelot's memoir, Win Some, Lose Some, tells the story of what happened behind the scenes at a pivotal point in Michigan political history. It's a chronicle of loyalty, devotion, vision, personality, and old-fashioned patriotism. Elected to office of governor in 1948, Democrat Mennen Williams served in that capacity until 1960. Despite opposition in the Republican legislature and resistance from the press, Williams garnered public support and literally built a state government that served the needs of the people. He left a legacy of elementary and secondary schools, college and university buildings, mental hospitals, roads, and bridges, especially his beloved Mackinac Bridge. Far more than a chronicle of Williams' career, Win Some, Lose Some reveals how politics and campaigning have changed —from budgets on a shoestring to multi-million dollar media exercises run by image makers, consultants, and market researchers.
