Beginning with Number 41 (1979), the University of Texas Press became the publisher of the most comprehensive annual bibliography in Latin American Studies. Compiled by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress and annotated by a corps of more than 140 specialists in various disciplines, the Handbook alternates from year to year between social sciences and humanities. The Handbook annotates works on Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the Guianas, Spanish South America, and Brazil, as well as materials covering Latin America as a whole. Most of the subsections are preceded by introductory essays that serve as biannual evaluations of the literature and research underway in specialized areas. Este libro escrito colectivamente, propone comprender las [contra] narrativas patrimoniales de la monumentalidad histórica y nacional en tres ciudades capitales latinoamericanas: Santiago, Buenos Aires y Brasilia. Se parte de la premisa que la definición e instalación de la monumentalidad contiene en sí idearios y utopías de la nación. Tarea que ha sido históricamente privilegio del Estado y su institucionalidad, tendiendo así a una narrativa monolítica y excluyente acerca de la ciudad ideal. Sin embargo, las ciudades y sus monumentos son también espacios en disputa, ya sea a través de la escritura, reescritura o la performance conmemorativa de sus formas resignificadas.
Mega Events, Urban Transformations and Social Citizenship
This book provides theoretical and empirical perspectives on the urban impact of mega-events globally. It takes mega-events as an instance to analyse urban transformations and their effects on citizenship. With contributions from leading scholars in the field, the book presents innovative and multidimensional analyses of mega-events with an international selection of case studies. Großstädte transkulturell erzählen
Das Narrativ der Textstadt «Buenos Paris Aires» stellt ein wirklichkeits-, identitäts- und kollektivstiftendes Erzählmuster in argentinischen und französischen Stadttexten unterschiedlicher Gattungen und Medien dar, welches die Studie erstmals erforscht. Vor dem Hintergrund der über 200-jährigen französisch-argentinischen Geschichte geht es zunächst um die Entstehung und Entwicklung des Narrativs (Präfiguration). Darüber hinaus werden am Beispiel der Textstadt Buenos Paris Aires die Eigenschaften transkultureller Stadttexte sowie die Formen und Funktionen ihrer Textstädte aufgezeigt (Konfiguration). Weiterhin stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern die fiktiven Textstädte auf die realen Städte und Kulturen zurückwirken (Refiguration). Das Narrativ der Textstadt Buenos Paris Aires reist als travelling narrative zwischen den Kulturräumen und trägt maßgeblich dazu bei, die französisch-argentinischen Beziehungen sowie die Identität und das Gedächtnis der beteiligten Kulturgemeinschaften zu verstehen, die sich mit dem Narrativ der Textstadt als imaginierte Erzähl- und Erinnerungsgemeinschaften konsolidieren.
