Passeggiare in Piazza Mercurio a Massa è esperienza di una certa suggestione per la gradevolezza e l’equilibrio degli edifici che la contornano; ma oggi, dopo gli scavi archeologici che nel 2011-2012 hanno preceduto la sua riqualificazione, le tracce di una storia millenaria stratificate sotto il lastricato amplificano quella sensazione. È la storia che questo libro intende raccontare, con una narrazione continua sostenuta da dati storici e materiali richiamati al momento opportuno, per ricreare i paesaggi e gli sfondi storici in cui si muovono gli attori delle vicende. Ecco così riprendere vita un abitato etrusco di capanne, un complesso artigianale legato alla produzione di quel vino che rese celebre la colonia di Luni; poi, tra i resti delle grandi fornaci romane, di nuovo un abitato alto-medievale, tra Bizantini e Longobardi, e una chiesa di età carolingia che raccoglie intorno a sé le sepolture di un cimitero. Tutto questo scompare per fare spazio alla platea mercatalis del borgo medievale e infine alla piazza e alla fontana del Mercurio voluti da Alberico Cybo Malaspina, il fondatore dellaMassa Nova.

Lasers in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
This book provides surgeons with important insights into laser technologies as well as a sound understanding of their current and potential applications within oral and maxillofacial surgery and related disciplines. The opening chapters focus on the relevant physical background, the technology of the typically used lasers, laser–tissue interactions, and the treatment systems. Detailed information is then provided on the various established applications of laser treatments, including in relation to skin and mucosa and the dental hard tissues and bone.
