Tematy modne w humanistyce to książka interesująca i – mimo zbiorowego autorstwa – spójna, wartościowa jako przegląd najintensywniej dziś eksploatowanych pól badawczych (poniekąd rodzaj słownika czy miniencyklopedii) i z pewnością godna publikacji. (z recenzji dra hab. Jana Potkańskiego, prof. UW) Książka, z którą miałem przyjemność obcować jako recenzent, zaskakuje bogactwem poruszanych obszarów problemowych (podobnie jak współczesna refleksja humanistyczna, będąca zasadniczym przedmiotem zainteresowania autorów szkiców pomieszczonych w Tematach modnych…, zaskakuje bogactwem metod i kontekstów badawczych), dojrzałością ich ujęć, fortunnością uzasadnień i trafnością syntez. Książka bez wątpienia godna jest polecenia. (z recenzji dra Tomasza Dalasińskiego, UMK)
This book offers an in-depth and critical analysis of the Istanbul Convention, along with discussions on its impact and implications. The work highlights the place of the Convention in the landscape of international law and policies on violence against women and equality. The authors argue that the Convention with its emphasis on integrated and comprehensive policies has an important role in promoting equality, but they also note the debates on “genderism” that the Convention has triggered in some member states. The book analyses central concepts of the Convention, including violence, gender and due diligence. It takes up major commitments of the parties to the Convention, including support and services to victims, criminal law provisions and protection of migrant women against violence. The book thus makes a major contribution to the development of national laws, policies and practice. It provides a valuable guide for policy-makers, students and academics in international human rights law, criminal and social law, social policy, social work and gender studies.
This book addresses the current resurgence of interest in feminism–notably within popular culture and media–that has led some to announce the arrival of the fourth wave. Research explores where fourth-wave feminism sits in relation to those that preceded it, and in particular, how fourth-wave feminism intersects with differing understandings of postfeminism(s). Through accessible and highly topical examples such as; the controversial actions of activist group, Femen; the rising phenomenon of ‘celebrity feminism;’ or the assumed outdated views of feminists’ associated with previous waves, the relationship between differing concepts of postfeminism(s) is illustrated. By pressing the need for an intergenerational approach to fourth-wave feminism, this book encourages engaging past debates and theorists allowing readers with an interest in the relationship between feminism and popular culture a fuller understanding of feminist theory and providing the opportunity to take stock before diving headfirst into another wave.
This book highlights current Cannabis research: its botany, authentication, biotechnology, in vitro propagation, chemistry, cannabinoids biosynthesis, metabolomics, genomics, biomass production, quality control, and pharmacology. Cannabis sativa L. (Family: Cannabaceae) is one of the oldest sources of fiber, food and medicine. This plant has been of interest to researchers, general public and media not only due to its medicinal properties but also the controversy surrounding its illicit use. Cannabis has a long history of medicinal use in the Middle East and Asia, being first introduced as a medicine in Western Europe in the early 19th century. Due to its numerous natural constituents, Canna...
