This is an extensive listing of almost everything published about the fourteenth century Spanish "Libro de buen amor" by Juan Ruiz, Archpriest of Hita. It is essentially the same as the online bibliography at http: //my-lba.com but it also contains a history of this project starting in the 1970's and a listing of other bibliographies on this work of literature. In addition, it can be used in conjunction with the e-book version (which has a search engine) "A Bibliography for the Book of Good Love, Third Edition" found at Lulu.com.
In Only a Few Blocks to Cuba, Mauricio Castro shows how the U.S. government came to view Cuban migration to Miami as a strategic asset during the Cold War, in the process investing heavily in the city’s development and shaping its future as a global metropolis. When Cuban refugees fleeing Communist revolution began to arrive in Miami in 1959, the city was faced with a humanitarian crisis it was ill-equipped to handle and sought to have the federal government solve what local politicians clearly viewed as a Cold War geopolitical problem. In response, the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations, and their successors, provided an unprecedented level of federal largesse and freedom of transit t...
The two volumes gather the most important findings of the nine sessions held at the Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas (AIH) conference in Münster, Germany, in 2016. The contributions focus, for example, on convergences and divergences between the holy and profane in medieval literature, on the constitution and construction of the "I" in Siglo de oro prose and poetry, or on the importance of space in theatre. Other central topics are transitions (in 18th- and 19th-century literature), crises and disruptions (in modern and contemporary literature), as well as transculturations and transitory identities (in view of Latin America). The volumes also contain five plenary talks and sessions discussing cinema and new media, history and culture between government and opposition, as well as language with regard to its ideological and interactive qualities.
This book proposes an innovative conceptual framework to explore cultural organizations at a multilateral level and cultural mediators as key figures in cultural and institutionalization processes. Specifically, it analyzes the role of Ibero-American mediators in the institutionalization of Hispanic and Lusophone cultures in the first half of the 20th century by means of two institutional networks: PEN (the non-governmental writer’s association) and the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (predecessor to UNESCO). Attempting to combine cultural and global history, sociology, and literary studies, the book uses an analytical focus on intercultural networks and cultural transf...
