El queísmo en la historia
The book offers a panchronic analysis of queísmo, one of the oldest variational phenomena in Spanish syntax, from the Classical era to this day. Within the framework of historical sociolinguistics and on the empirical basis of a broad corpus of texts close to the pole of immediacy, the study analyzes the factors that have determined this variation at various points in time.

El discurso histórico, junto con otros posibles sobre la música, es un componente necesario de la experiencia musical contemporánea. La historiografía musical indaga este discurso y su construcción en una compleja dialéctica interna a la propia historia, y también externa, en relación con otras áreas musicológicas y con otras disciplinas. Los siete ensayos que se reúnen en esta obra componen una valiosa visión de conjunto de la historiografía musical europea entre aproximadamente 1870 y 1936, es decir, el momento de su consolidación como disciplina científica. Estas aportaciones ahondan en las afinidades y divergencias entre las tradiciones musicológicas de Alemania, España, Francia e Italia en las décadas que unen los siglos xix y xx, cuando, bajo la tutela de la filología y de la historia, la musicología se constituyó como disciplina académica.
The Value of Popular Music
In this book, Alison Stone argues that popular music since rock-‘n’-roll is a unified form of music which has positive value. That value is that popular music affirms the importance of materiality and the body, challenging the long-standing Western elevation of the intellect above all things corporeal. Stone also argues that popular music’s stress on materiality gives it aesthetic value, drawing on ideas from the post-Kantian tradition in aesthetics by Hegel, Adorno, and others. She shows that popular music gives importance to materiality in its typical structure: in how music of this type handles the relations between matter and form, the relations between sounds and words, and in how it deals with rhythm, meaning, and emotional expression. Extensive use is made of musical examples from a wide range of popular music genres. This book is distinctive in that it defends popular music on philosophical grounds, particularly informed by the continental tradition in philosophy.
