A mulher é inteira.

Introduction by Thomas Lawson, Susan Morgan.
This book includes a collection of state-of-the-art contributions addressing both theoretical developments in, and successful applications of, seismic structural health monitoring (S2HM). Over the past few decades, Seismic SHM has expanded considerably, due to the growing demand among various stakeholders (owners, managers and engineering professionals) and researchers. The discipline has matured in the process, as can be seen by the number of S2HM systems currently installed worldwide. Furthermore, the responses recorded by S2HM systems hold great potential, both with regard to the management of emergency situations and to ordinary maintenance needs. The book’s 17 chapters, prepared by le...

"The architect, Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992), has long been considered one of the major modern architects of the twentieth century in Brazil. The Glass House (1951), a residence for herself and her husband, gained wide acclaim, appearing in architectural periodicals throughout 1953-54. Her iconic Museum of Art of Säao Paulo (1968), and the bold, Social Service for Commerce Building-Pompâeia, Säao Paulo (1986), have gained recognition in recent years and her reputation is beginning to be acknowledged internationally. Bo Bardi's major writings on architecture, however, have not been translated, and are not well known. This book contains the first English-language translation of Propeadeutic Co...

Obesity is currently regarded as one of the major health challenges of the developed world. Excess body weight is an important risk factor for morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, musculoskeletal disorders and even psychiatric problems and is estimated to cause nearly 3 million deaths per year worldwide. Obesity is not necessarily associated with comorbidities: there are indeed metabolically healthy obese individuals. Thus, we need to consider individuals presenting simple with obesity separately from those at risk of developing or who have already developed complex clinical states potentially leading to disability. Comorbidities can tip the balance of inde...
