metamorphosen 26 – Horror

The notion of ecology not only figures centrally in current debates around climate change, but also traverses contemporary discourses in the arts, the humanities, and the social and techno sciences. In its present reformulation it refers to the multi-layered and multi-dimensional nexus of reciprocities between living processes, technological and media practices, i.e. to the complex relations of human and nonhuman agents. The book Hybrid Ecologies understands ecology as an ambivalent notion, whose multivalence opens up new fields of action and yet, thanks precisely to this openness and vast applicability, at the same time raises questions not least concerning its genealogy. The interdisciplin...

In 1922 the hundreds of workers from 17 nations engaged in the construction of Rudolf Steiner's first Goetheanum building arranged for Steiner to give them a daily lecture after their morning coffee break. Rudolf Steiner not only had the workers set the lecture themes but also welcomed their questions and comments. This second colume of nine of these talks retains the vital, coloquial, and spontaneous qualities of the first volume. The workers continued to show a special interest in therapeutics and health, but phenomena from all the kingdoms of nature as well as their cosmic origins were also touched upon. Thus, Steiner was able to shed new light on a wide specture of topics, including the effects of healing metals and substances on the human body, pregnancy, beaver lodges and wasp nests, crossed eyes, vegetarian and meat diets, and various specific diseases such as jaundice, rabies, hemophilia, and influenza.

Cohabitation Strategies: Challenging Neoliberal Urbanization Between Crisis presents twelve years of urban theories, projects, and interventions developed by Cohabitation Strategies, a Rotterdam- and New York City-based non-profit cooperative committed to radical socio-spatial research, design, and development. Centering on the development of new action-research methodologies, neighborhood-based initiatives, and the facilitation of community-driven transformative interventions, the book offers critical insights and progressive visions on the dramatic impact that neoliberal spatial-restructuring had in communities of color and low-income neighborhoods in the Netherlands, Italy, France, Canada, and the United States. The book proposes new transdisciplinary methodologies, practices, tools, and strategies to challenge for-profit-driven urban development and the advancement of the right to the city.
