Algo para além de tirar as crianças da rua
O aumento do número de intervenções das ONGs (organizações não governamentais) no cenário nacional destaca outra área de desenvolvimento do Esporte. Conhecida como Esporte Social ou Educacional, ela é tratada como 'ferramenta' que contribui para a formação do público-alvo, sejam crianças, adolescentes, adultos ou idosos em projetos sociais. Investigar qual o tratamento pedagógico indicado que esse esporte pode sofrer e quais as características a serem consideradas ao se planejar um programa social por meio do esporte são os objetivos desta obra. Orientando-se pela Etnografia e utilizando-se da metodologia da história oral, procurou ser foco do estudo o impacto sobre a vida de um grupo de jovens moradores da comunidade de Heliópolis - favela de Heliópolis - que participa de um projeto socioeducativo, utilizando o esporte como eixo norteador.
