mlr3 is an award-winning ecosystem of R packages that have been developed to enable state-of-the-art machine learning capabilities in R. Applied Machine Learning Using mlr3 in R gives an overview of flexible and robust machine learning methods, with an emphasis on how to implement them using mlr3 in R. It covers various key topics, including basic machine learning tasks, such as building and evaluating a predictive model; hyperparameter tuning of machine learning approaches to obtain peak performance; building machine learning pipelines that perform complex operations such as pre-processing followed by modelling followed by aggregation of predictions; and extending the mlr3 ecosystem with cu...
The aim of this volume is to highlight a selection of important current research topics in the field of digital technology and management, illustrating the variety of aspects which have to be considered in the development and application of digital technologies. Topics covered in the book include the design of the innovation process, digital rights management, mobile, location-based and ubiquitous services, IT service management and future communication networks.
Martin Heibel analyzes founder turnover in German venture capital backed start-up companies. He develops two unique data sets specifically assembled through an experiment and an online survey. His in-depth analyses cover antecedents and performance implications of founder turnover. They combine venture capitalists’ as well as entrepreneurs’ perspectives on founder turnover, and yield detailed insights into the interaction between financiers and founders.
Only recently has Egyptology started examining ideology and its implications for our self-understanding and understanding of ancient Egypt, Egyptology, and the past as a whole. This edition presents aspects of ideology, scholarship, and individual biographies from World War I to the “Third Reich”.
This work reports on the generation of artificial magnetic fields with ultracold atoms in optical lattices using laser-assisted tunneling, as well as on the first Chern-number measurement in a non-electronic system. It starts with an introduction to the Hofstadter model, which describes the dynamics of charged particles on a square lattice subjected to strong magnetic fields. This model exhibits energy bands with non-zero topological invariants called Chern numbers, a property that is at the origin of the quantum Hall effect. The main part of the work discusses the realization of analog systems with ultracold neutral atoms using laser-assisted-tunneling techniques both from a theoretical and experimental point of view. Staggered, homogeneous and spin-dependent flux distributions are generated and characterized using two-dimensional optical super-lattice potentials. Additionally their topological properties are studied via the observation of bulk topological currents. The experimental techniques presented here offer a unique setting for studying topologically non-trivial systems with ultracold atoms.
This book is written by leading researchers in the fields about the intersection of genetics and metabolomics which can lead to more comprehensive studies of inborn variation of metabolism.
