In this charming travelogue, Lynn Dryden recounts the highs and lows of walking the Camino, in the hope that it will inspire others to follow their dreams. Jim Dryden dreamed of walking the Camino de Santiago - the famous pilgrimage walk in Galicia, Spain. When he died from prostate cancer, his wife Lynn, who wasn't much of a walker, decided to take on the challenge herself. Walking the Camino taught Lynn so much, she wanted to share her experiences, in the hope that they would inspire others to follow their dreams. This book tells the story of her walk, from when the idea first came to her, through the highs and lows of the walk, to getting Jim's name added to her Compostela and then arriving back home.

Doing the Possible tells the life-story of an early Primitive Baptist church in the wildness of northeast Alabama, a late-blooming area of the state that was a sanctuary for Cherokee Indians being pushed toward extinction. White settlers--prominent among them the family of William (Billy) Edwards who gave his name and a tract of land to the new county seat--established in the inhospitable hills and hollows a thriving church and community. They built a warm fellowship that was often disrupted by theological controversy as they set a course quite different from the "mainstream" church--and once the community was shocked by an act of physical violence, murder in the churchyard. And there are glimpses of the backwoods enterprise on which a few members depended heavily, the profitable conversion of corn into the moonshine for which the area is noted. But mostly it is a story of plain, hardy people living and loving together.

John Dryden

John Dryden was first published in 1976. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. This annotated bibliography represents a comprehensive updating of Samuel Holt Monk's earlier work, also published by the University of Minnesota Press, John Dryden: A List of Critical Studies Published from 1895 to 1948 (out of print). Since the publication of that earlier bibliography, the number of studies devoted to Dryden has more than tripled, and thus this new bibliography is essential for scholars of Dryden or related aspects of seventeenth- and eighteenth...
