This is the second edition of the third volume in the Monographs on Pathology of Laboratory Animals series. Since the first edition, new information has developed at a remarkable pace. Both editions propose standardized nomenclature that is being used internationally, gaining significant acceptance. The result is improved communications of pathologic data to regulatory agencies and in scientific publications worldwide. New information on the nature and variability of preneoplastic lesions in the liver of laboratory rodents is included in this edition. The book expands data on the accompanying changes in enzyme activity in affected liver cells. Spongiosis hepatis in the rat and its relation to spongiotic pericytoma are discussed thoroughly. Information on many other pathologic entities is brought up to date and new ones are added to this second edition, making it an even more useful and expanded reference text.
"The volume focuses on recent advances in organofluorine chemistry directed towards selective fluorine introduction into various target molecules, employing both traditional and contemporary, electrophilic and nucleophilic, fluorinating agents. It brings t"

The increased incidence of pancreatic cancer in the Western world and its grave prognosis has resulted in an urgency for research in this area. Until now the available data on toxicology of the pancreas has been few and fragmentary, scattered throughout the literature. A benchmark volume, Toxicology of the Pancreas pulls together information in this neglected area of toxicological research and highlights fundamental research performed in the last ten years. Leaders in the field discuss important structures, the detoxification and toxification process at the cellular and sub-cellular level, the distribution of phase 1 and phase 2 drug-metabolizing enzymes and their role in pancreatic disease,...
Development and progression of gastrointestinal disease involves inflammatory, vascular, fibrogenetic and immune reactions accompanied by deregulation of cellular growth and death often resulting in cancer of the organs affected. This book, the proceedings of Falk Symposium 132 on `Disease Progression and Carcinogenesis in the Gastrointestinal Tract', held in Freiburg, Germany, October 9-10, 2002, addresses these various cellular processes in five sections in order to build up a broad pathogenic concept of gastrointestinal disease, purposely going beyond organ-specific research. Each section combines experts in the various fields of molecular medicine together with clinical scientists in order to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion. In addition, clinical chapters focus on new findings in both diagnostics and therapeutics.

The second edition of Comprehensive Organic Synthesis—winner of the 2015 PROSE Award for Multivolume Reference/Science from the Association of American Publishers—builds upon the highly respected first edition in drawing together the new common themes that underlie the many disparate areas of organic chemistry. These themes support effective and efficient synthetic strategies, thus providing a comprehensive overview of this important discipline. Fully revised and updated, this new set forms an essential reference work for all those seeking information on the solution of synthetic problems, whether they are experienced practitioners or chemists whose major interests lie outside organic sy...
Nematodes represent a unique challenge to agricultural research, in that they combine the potential for serious reductions in growth and yield in a wide range of crop plants, often with rather nonspecific and easily misdiagnosed symptoms. Development of the concept of pest management and their implementation have led to a greater appreciation of the need for a wide range of tactics for nematode control. The present book ``Nematode Management in Plants'' provides an authoritative review of many aspects of nematode control and progress in the field of nematode management programme. The volume contains eighteen articles covering application of cropping sequences, plant products and botani...
