Styring og evaluering i den offentlige sektor er en hyldestbog til professor Hanne Foss Hansen i anledning af hendes 60 års fødselsdag. Bogen giver et indblik i, hvor forskningsfronten i disse år bugter sig inden for Hanne Foss Hansens forskningsfelter, nemlig styring og evaluering i den offentlige sektor. Det er ikke ligegyldigt, hvordan den offentlige sektor organiseres og styres. Det betyder noget for, hvordan børnene bliver passet i børnehaverne, og hvordan veje og kloaker vedligeholdes. Ikke mindst betyder det noget for, hvor meget alle danskere skal betale i skat for at få leveret de ydelser, som de kan forvente. Den offentlige sektor skal med andre ord organiseres og styres med henblik på at sikre, at den lever op til de krav, der stilles til den.
