Nel primo e nell’ultimo, Magda Goebbels, con meticolosità e controllo, prepara l’uscita di scena della propria famiglia, nell’atto finale del regime nazista. Il romanzo intreccia storie parallele di madri e figlie e i loro sguardi differenti nei confronti della vita, della Storia, dei rapporti tra i due sessi. Mescolando realtà e finzione, l’autrice fa emergere il ritratto di una donna che la Storia ha reso mostruosa e che qui viene reinventata con intelligenza e gusto narrativo.
