Available online: https://pub.norden.org/nord2024-016/ This policy brief compiles the main findings from the report “A review of the Nordic implementation of the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan” (2024). The review assesses the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Gender Action Plan (UNFCCC GAP) in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The UNFCCC GAP aims to advance the implementation of gender-responsive climate actions at all levels, ensuring women's full, meaningful participation in the climate process. Thus, this review assesses both the notable endeavours towards ensuring gender responsive climate policies in the Nordic countries, as well as the challenges encountered. Based on the review, this policy brief presents best practices, gaps and barriers as well as recommendations for further strengthening the implementation fo the UNFCCC GAP in the Nordic countries.
Intraoperative imaging technologies have taken an ever-increasing role in the daily practice of neurosurgeons and the increasing attention and interest necessitated international interaction and collaboration. The Intraoperative Imaging Society was formed in 2007. This book brings together highlights from the second meeting of the Intraoperative Imaging Society, which took place in Istanbul-Turkey from June 14 to 17, 2009. Included within the contents of the book is an overview of the emergence and development of the intraoperative imaging technology as well as a glimpse on where the technology is heading. This is followed by in detail coverage of intraoperative MRI technology and sections on intraoperative CT and ultrasonography. There are also sections on multimodality integration, intraoperative robotics and other intraoperative technologies. We believe that this book will provide an up-to date and comprehensive general overview of the current intraoperative imaging technology as well as detailed discussions on individual techniques and clinical results.
Boka vart utgitt i 2001. Utflyttarboka 2007 tek med dei som har flytta frå øya og familien deira. Familien står gruppevis under namnet på utflyttaren. Boka er såleis ikkje ei oppdatering av Personboka 2000. Boka vart utgitt i 2007.
Introduction: In this thesis, MEGA-edited Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) has been used for the purpose of non-invasive detection of !- aminobutyric acid (GABA) within the brain. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human central nervous system, and glutamate is the corresponding main excitatory neurotransmitter. A balance between GABA and glutamate is crucial for healthy neurotransmission within the brain, and regional altered concentrations have been linked to certain neurological disorders. However, it is challenging to measure GABA, and special editing approaches are needed in order to allow reliable quantification. In addition, the GABA measurement is further compli...
This flagship report is a comprehensive review that gives an overall picture of the world's freshwater resources. It analyses pressures from decisions that drive demand for water and affect its availability. It offers tools and response options to help leaders in government, the private sector and civil society address current and future challenges. It suggests ways in which institutions can be reformed and their behaviour modified, and explores possible sources of financing for the urgently needed investment in water. The WWDR4 is a milestone within the WWDR series, reporting directly on regions and highlighting hotspots, and it has been mainstreamed for gender equality. It introduces a the...
This book is a comprehensive study of Nordic Noir television drama from the 1990’s until today. The authors introduce the history of contemporary Nordic Noir from the perspective of place, production and location studies. The chapters include readings of well-known television crime dramas such as Beck, The Killing, Trapped and The Bridge as well as a range of other important Nordic Noir cases. The authors position the development of Nordic Noir in the global market for popular television drama and place the international attention towards Nordic crime dramas within regional development of drama production in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. Consequently, Nordic Noir is read as both a transnational financial and creative phenomenon and as a local possibility for community building. Offering a comprehensible, scholarly and methodologically original approach to the popularity of Nordic television crime dramas, this volume is aimed at readers with an interest in crime drama as well as scholars and students of television drama.
This edited volume seeks to propose and examine different, though related, critical responses to modern cultures of war among other cultural practices of statecraft. Taken together, these essays present a space of creative engagement with the political and draw on a broad range of cultural contexts and genres of expressions to provoke the thinking that exceeds the conventional stories and practices of international relations. In contrast to a macropolitical focus on state policy and inter-state hostilities, the contributors to this volume treat the micropolitics of violence and dissensus that occur below [besides and against] the level and gaze that comprehends official map-making, policy-ma...
"During the Late Bronze Age, the Iron Age and early medieval period (c. 600 BC-AD 1250) settlement at Vik in the Ørland peninsula emerged, flourished, vanished and emerged anew. Local landscape and vegetation development, cross-regional cultural developments and global climatic events were of great significance to the farmer-fisher communities at Vik throughout these periods. In this book, results from the 2014-2016 archaeological excavations at Ørland main air base have been refined and developed. The 13 papers deal with landscape, vegetation and environmental aspects related to the excavated settlement, as well as the spatial and social organization of the built environment. Building traditions, disposal practices, the form and representation of everyday objects, subsistence and landscape use are central to the discussions." A thorough analysis of contemporary digital media practices, showing how people increasingly not only consume but also produce and even design media. With many new forms of digital media–including such popular social media as Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr—the people formerly known as the audience no longer only consume but also produce and even design media. Jonas Löwgren and Bo Reimer term this phenomenon collaborative media, and in this book they investigate the qualities and characteristics of these forms of media in terms of what they enable people to do. They do so through an interdisciplinary research approach that combines the social sciences and humanities traditions of empirica...
The challenge of showing contemporary jewelry - under the pressure of creative competition, institutional inertia, and claims of curatorial legitimacy by non-affiliated curators - has given rise to a bubbling exhibition landscape, with amateurs and professionals playing musical chairs to a very D.I.Y. score. Artists mount their own exhibitions. Museums invite amateurs to curate shows from their collection, and visitors to handle work. Collectors issue exhibition lists and detailed press releases. Meanwhile, the trend towards ever more experimental scenographies continues, with set-ups that never cease to negotiate with our expectations: works are shown on plinths, window sills, chairs, table...
