Biokraftstoffe und Landkonkurrenz
Nikolaus Ludwiczek zeigt mit seiner empirischen Forschung, dass beim Ausbau der Biokraftstoffproduktion die Verdrängung des Lebensmittelanbaus, der bäuerlichen Landwirtschaft und ökologisch wertvoller Waldflächen vermieden werden kann. Der Autor analysiert dazu die Regulierungssysteme der EU und Brasiliens und führt Interviews über die brasilianische Landnutzung mit Vertretern der bäuerlichen Landwirtschaft, der Landlosenbewegung, des Agrarbusiness, der Zucker- und Ethanolindustrie und von Waldschutzorganisationen.
