Die Severer und das Heer
Die Dynastie der Severer (193 bis 235 n.Chr.) brachte dem Romischen Reich eine letzte Phase relativer Ruhe und Stabilitat, markiert aber aufgrund einer auffallenden Bevorzugung der Soldaten gleichzeitig eine Umbruchszeit. Diese Hinwendung zum Militar trug den Severern eine uberwiegend negative Darstellung in der antiken Geschichtsschreibung ein. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden die Maanahmen und Leistungen der Kaiser auf dem Gebiet des romischen Militarwesens anhand der textlichen Quellen untersucht: Wie traten die Severer selbst als Soldaten auf? Wie agierten sie im Kampf? Ebenso wird der Beitrag des Heeres an der Machtergreifung sowie am Machterhalt der Kaiser herausgearbeitet. Im dritten Teil werden die zentralen Aspekte severischer Heerespolitik einer sorgfaltigen Analyse unterzogen. Machten deren Maanahmen den Heeresdienst attraktiver?
