This book is written and edited by experts and academics already active in the oil and gas industry, and addresses students and practitioners alike. It aims to familiarize them with salient features of oil and gas service contracts. The book provides a concise description and, to a lesser extent, analysis of the main features of service contracts of the types commonly used in the oil and gas industry. Writers and editors come from different legal traditions and practice in different jurisdictions, including UK, Iran, Brazil and Mexico. Service contracts are as broad as their name suggests, comprising a wide array of contracts. However, a clear distinction exists between contracts where one party to the contract is a sovereign state or neither is. This has been the basis for organizing the present book in two parts.

This work is developed from studies about the principles of the Christian Lutheran education and the administration of confessional schools in the context of the pedagogic ideas in the south of Brazil (1824-1997). This administration encompasses the director, the professor, and the parents, so that they may work together in search for a clear view of the mission, that is, the meaning of the existence of a confessional school. The aims of this research is to clarify questions in the History of Education, as well as in the administration of priv...
This research evaluates whether the new model of investment agreement developed by Brazil (CFIA) is a mechanism for enhancing protection and respect for social and economic rights. The research starts by exploring the origins of investment treaties, their development and main characteristics. It examines why investment treaties and socio-economic rights are related, by mapping cases in which investment treaties have already impaired the protection of such rights. The research then analyzes how these two issues shall be jointly handled. It considers international organizations? initiatives to regulate business and human rights and investment treaties? frameworks that foster sustainable develo...
Social dialogue and labour inspection are essential to promote and achieve decent work and are also important in times of crisis. After a brief historical review of social dialogue in Brazil in recent years, the experience of the Brazilian labour inspection in dealing with the crisis caused by the new coronavirus pandemic is described and later compared with the practices adopted by labour inspectorates in other countries. Data collection includes interviews with two social partners and an international survey with the participation of representatives from twelve countries. In the end, guidelines are proposed on how the performance of labour inspection and the use of social dialogue should be in the face of a crisis with negative economic effects in order to overcome it quickly and without major problems, generating beneficial and lasting results in the world of work and helping to recover the economy.
