Crossroad of Desire

When a disturbance threatens to destroy the dream realm, Thomas and Lyra are tasked with finding its source. With the guidance of the wise Cassandra, they venture through a perilous portal to stop the sorcerer responsible for the chaos. As they battle twisted creatures and fight against the sorcerer's dark magic, they realize his ultimate goal is to control the dream realm. With fierce determination and their magic crackling in the air, they overpower him and send him hurtling into his own vortex. But their victory is short-lived as Cassandra warns them of future threats. Together, they vow to protect the dream realm from any who would seek to control it again. On their journey, they encounter a group of lost travelers who could bring harm to their world. To ensure its safety, Thomas, Lyra, and Cassandra erase the travelers' memories of ever setting foot in the dream realm. As vigilant protectors, they continue to defend the dream realm against any threat. Nothing will ever be able to threaten its safety again, as long as they live and stand as its guardians and champions.

This book was published in 2003.This book offers a broad and incisive analysis of the governance of privacy protection with regard to personal information in contemporary advanced industrial states. Based on research across many countries, it discusses the goals of privacy protection policy and the changing discourse surrounding the privacy issue, concerning risk, trust and social values. It analyzes at length the contemporary policy instruments that together comprise the inventory of possible solutions to the problem of privacy protection. It argues that privacy protection depends upon an integration of these instruments, but that any country's efforts are inescapably linked with the actions of others that operate outside its borders. The book concludes that, in a ’globalizing’ world, this regulatory interdependence could lead either to a search for the highest possible standard of privacy protection, or to competitive deregulation, or to a more complex outcome reflecting the nature of the issue and its policy responses.

Eating disorders, addictions, and substance use disorders are each challenging in their own right, but they also commonly co-occur, causing major challenges for clinicians. This book presents cutting-edge research on the overlap of these complex disorders and reviews integrative assessment strategies and treatment approaches, including enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, abstinence approaches, motivational enhancement, mindfulness meditation, and pharmacotherapy. The issue of whether eating-disordered behaviors such as dieting, binge eating, and excessive exercise are merely other forms of addictive behavior is examined. The authors argue both for and against the concept of food addiction in research, clinical treatment, and public policy. The book will be of interest to psychiatrists, addiction medicine physicians, mental health/substance abuse clinicians, dieticians, researchers, and those affected by the disorders.
