Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Collection of Mediterranean Antiquities, Vol. 3, The Metal Objects and the Gems
This is the third out of eight projected volumes making available to the public the contents in the collection of Greek and Roman Antiquities in one of Canada’s most prestigious museums. Here are presented a variety of metal objects (mostly bronze figurines, medical instruments, brooches, weaponry and a lead sarcophagus), the small collection of jewelry and the ancient gems and seal stones (mainly Roman) some still set in rings. Ce volume est le troisième de la série de huit volumes projetés qui vise à publier la collection des antiquités grecques et romaines d’un des grands musées canadiens. Nous présentons ici des objets métalliques très variés (surtout des statuettes de bronze, des instruments médicaux, des épingles, des armes et un sarcophage de plomb), un petit nombre de bijoux et de gemmes anciennes (surtout romaines) certaines encore serties dans une bague.
Collection Diniacopoulos Au Québec
When Olga and Vincent Diniacopoulos arrived in Montreal from Post-War Europe, they brought with them more than two thousand antiquities. Yet Canada's largest private collection, held since the 1960s at Université de Laval and now in the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, remained largely unknown and unstudied. In 2004, Concordia University - in conjunction with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts - arranged for an exhibition, an international conference, and a publication devoted to the collection. Ten essays, seven in English and three in French, explore various aspects of a collection ranging from Greek pottery of the Late Bronze Age to ancient glass of Roman imperial date. Accompanied by a complete catalogue of all the Montreal pieces.

Literature and Painting In Quebec
This unique study explores how Quebec's landscapes have been represented in both literature and visual art throughout the centuries, from the writing of early explorers such as Cartier and Champlain to work by prominent contemporary authors and artists from the province. William J. Berg traces recurrent images and themes within these creations through the most significant periods in the development of a Quebecois identity that was threatened initially by the wilderness and indigenous populations, and later by the dominance of British and American influences. Focusing on the interplay between nature and culture in landscape representation, Literature and Painting in Quebec contends that both have reflected and fashioned the meaning of French-Canadian nationhood. As such, Literature and Painting in Quebec presents a new perspective to approach the notion of national identity, a quest that few groups have engaged in more persistently than the Quebecois.
