The Jewish American Novel
Philippe Codde provides a comparative cultural analysis of the unprecedented success of the Jewish novel in the postwar United States by situating the process and event in the context of three closely-related American cultural movements: the popularity in the US of French philosophical and literary existentialism, the increasing visibility of the Holocaust in US-American life, and the advent of radical theology. Codde argues that the literary repertoire of the postwar Jewish novel consists of an amalgam of these cultural elements that were making their mark in the political, religious, and philosophical systems of the United States at the time, and that this explains, in part, the Jewish novel's sweeping success in the American literary system.

Comparative Central European Holocaust Studies
The work presented in the volume in fields of the humanities and social sciences is based on 1) the notion of the existence and the "describability" and analysis of a culture (including, e.g., history, literature, society, the arts, etc.) specific of/to the region designated as Central Europe, 2) the relevance of a field designated as Central European Holocaust studies, and 3) the relevance, in the study of culture, of the "comparative" and "contextual" approach designated as "comparative cultural studies." In this book, Asian Diaspora and East-West Modernity, Sheng-mei Ma analyzes Asian, Asian diaspora, and Orientalist discourse and probes into the conjoinedness of West and East and modernity's illusions. Drawing from Anglo-American, Asian American, and Asian literature, as well as J-horror and manga, Chinese cinema, the internet, and the Korean Wave, Ma's analyses render fluid the two hemispheres of the globe, the twin states of being and nonbeing, and things of value and nonentity. Is this a Culture of Trauma? An Interdisciplinary Perspective
This volume was first published by Inter-Disciplinary Press in 2013. The 20th century has been characterised by an unprecedented violence that seems to have left an imprint in contemporary societies: from the two World Wars or the terrorist attack of 9/11 to natural catastrophes or sexual abuse. All of these terrible experiences have been collected, represented, and communicated by many different people, especially in the last few decades, as seen in the high number of books and films dealing with traumatic experiences. As a result, an interdisciplinary ‘trauma studies’ field has emerged. At the 2nd Global Conference ‘Trauma: Theory and Practice’, an interdisciplinary conference hosted in Prague in the spring of 2012, academics and professionals met to explore and debate issues surrounding the experience of individual and collective traumas, their representations in art, and some theoretical approaches to trauma.
