The Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA), in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Malaysia and the European Union (EU) Delegation to Malaysia, hosted the virtual Seminar on Enhancing the Area of Ocean Governance of the EU Strategy for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific through Dialogue from 23 to 24 June 2022. Pusat Kajian Selat Melaka MIMA: Tahun 2022 Penuh dengan Program Kerjasama Serantau dan Antarabangsa Pusat Kajian Selat Melaka (SOM), Institut Maritim Malaysia (MIMA) ditubuhkan secara rasmi pada 21 Oktober 2008. Menjelang 15 tahun penubuhannya, SOM pada tahun 2022 mara bergerak bersama-sama pihak berkepentingan di dalam negara, serantau, dan antarabangsa dalam melaksanakan penyelidikan pelbagai isu maritim terutamanya berkaitan dengan pencemaran marin, pengurusan maritim pintar dalam penyelenggaraan keselamatan pelayaran, dan perlindungan alam sekitar di Selat Melaka.
Kesan Perjanjian Inggeris-Belanda 1824 Menjelang 200 Tahun Kepada Perdagangan Maritim di Sekitar Selat Melaka dan Wilayah Berhampiran. Semasa British melakukan penjajahan di Tanah Melayu, beberapa perjanjian berjaya dimeterai yang memberikan manfaat besar kepada Syarikat Hindia Timur Inggeris (British East India Company [EIC]). Perjanjian Inggeris-Belanda 1824 antara perjanjian yang memberikan impak besar bukan sahaja kepada British, malah ada manfaatnya yang dinikmati sehingga kini oleh Malaysia dan Singapura. Dua tahun lagi (2024) merupakan ulang tahun ke-200 termeterainya perjanjian tersebut antara pihak British dan Belanda. Selepas hampir dua abad perjanjian tersebut, strategi British mendatangkan kemajuan kepada Singapura, Selat Melaka dan juga wilayah-wilayah berhampiran. Walaupun terdapat banyak penyelidikan dan penulisan yang menyatakan penjajahan British bertujuan meluaskan dasar ideologi serta menjamin kepentingan ekonomi British sahaja, realitinya negara terlibat menikmati sendiri kesan daripada penjajahan itu.
