Tujuan diskusi publik adalah agar peserta diskusi memiliki wawasan tentang: • terapi sel punca termasuk manfaat dan risiko yang terkait • kondisi anak yang sesuai dengan indikasi terapi sel punca Adapun kajian kepedulian pada terapi sel punca untuk komunitas anak berkebutuhan khusus di Indonesia bertujuan untuk memberi REKOMENDASI pada pemerintah atas permasalahan strategis di Indonesia yakni terapi sel punca untuk komunitas anak berkebutuhan khusus melalui penelaahan kebijakan dan pengkajian yang mendalam dari Universitas Indonesia bersama lembaga terkait. Pihak pemerintah dalam hal ini yaitu Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia yang diwakili oleh Ketua Komite Nasional Sel Punca Kemenkes RI, Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak yang diwakili oleh Deputi Perlindungan Anak, dan Badan Pengawasan Obat dan Makanan (BPPOM) Republik Indonesia sebagai lembaga regulator distribusi obat termasuk sel punca.
