El protagonista acaba de ser contratado por una empresa constructora para organizar los suministros de materiales y equipos a las obras en Latinoamérica, trabajo para el que cuenta con más de quince años de experiencia. Pronto entenderá que Latinoamérica significa Venezuela y en pocas semanas estará viajando rumbo al país caribeño. Allí se encuentra con el intento de golpe de Estado del 30 de abril de 2019, que pone al país al borde de un enfrentamiento civil y una intervención militar exterior. Pero hay que seguir trabajando en los dos proyectos más importantes de la empresa: una fábrica de fusiles Kalashnikov para el ejército bolivariano, que ejecuta una compañía rusa perteneciente a la corporación estatal ROSTEC; y una planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales para el ministerio de Aguas y Medio Ambiente. The Ghost in the Constitution offers a reflection on the political use of the concept of historical memory foregrounding the case of Spain. The book analyses the philosophical implications of the transference of the notion of memory from the individual consciousness to the collective subject and considers the conflation of epistemology with ethics. A subtheme is the origins and transmission of political violence, and its endurance in the form of symbolic violence and negationism in the post-Franco era.
