Abstract: Background & Aims All known hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes occur in humans and hominoid Old World non-human primates (NHPs). The divergent woolly monkey HBV (WMHBV) forms another orthohepadnavirus species. The evolutionary origins of HBV are unclear. Methods We analysed sera from 124 Brazilian monkeys collected during 2012-2016 for hepadnaviruses using molecular and serological tools, and conducted evolutionary analyses. Results We identified a novel orthohepadnavirus species in capuchin monkeys (capuchin monkey hepatitis B virus [CMHBV]). We found CMHBV-specific antibodies in five animals and high CMHBV concentrations in one animal. Non-inflammatory, probably chronic infection ...
“Simon Wiesenthal since the end of World War II has had one major aim in life — to track down as many as possible of the SS men who took part in the administration of the concentration and extermination camps run by the Third Reich... The writing of this book was actually done by the well-known journalist Joseph Wechsberg to whom Wiesenthal told his stories and who contributes a series of profiles of the narrator. It is a dramatic and knowledgeable account... [Wiesenthal’s is] a remarkable career, which is movingly... reported in these pages.” — Eugene Davidson, The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science

Bryony Jamesis a glamorous yet naive actress from 1930s Hollywood, hiding a dark secret about her past. Simon Gradyis an arrogant, impulsive...
Abstract: Aims With recurrence rates up to 50% after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) in persistent atrial fibrillation (AF), predictive tools to improve patient selection are needed. Patient selection based on left atrial late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been proposed previously (UTAH-classification). However, this approach has not been widely established, in part owed to the lack of standardization of the LGE quantification method. We have recently established a standardized LGE-CMR method enabling reproducible LGE-quantification. Here, the ability of this method to predict outcome after PVI was evaluated. Methods and results This dual-centre stud...
A must-have volume for all wine lovers and those who love orange wine. Written by renowned orange wine expert and award winning writer Simon J. Woolf, Amber Revolution is the world's first book to tell the full, forgotten story of this ancient wine (white wine made like a red wine) and its modern struggle to gain acceptance. It is a tale of lost identity, the fight for survival, and pioneering winemakers--from the Caucasus to the Adriatic. White grapes are left in contact with their skins for days, weeks or months during fermentation, creating stunning complexity, unusual aromas and intense flavors. The extended skin contact gives these wines bold amber, russet, or orange tints. The techniqu...
