Quantitative NMR (qNMR) has been around for a long time, but also has great potential to solve future problems in any quantitative analysis. As a primary method, it differs fundamentally from chromatographic methods: it is better described as a quantum mechanical balance. Successful implementation of qNMR requires certain attention to detail. 'qNMR - the handbook' is intended to be a guide for analysts to help understand the fundamental principles of NMR and the significant points relating to its implementation for quantitation. Regulatory considerations of qNMR adoption are explained. NMR fundamentals are explained to provide understanding. Im Band I seiner Arbeit "Wasser- und Windmühlen in Europa" hatte Prof. Dr.-Ing. i.R. Andreas Ney vornehmlich die Quellen der Spätantike und des Mittelalters dargestellt. Im Band II stehen nun die Quellen der Antike im Vordergrund. Die erarbeiteten Quellen verfestigen das Bild, daß die Wassermühle kurz vor Beginn unserer Zeitrechnung im Nahen Osten aus dem Wasserschöpfrad entstanden war, danach von den Römern aufgenommen und im Zuge der Ausweitung ihres Reiches in Mitteleuropa verbreitet wurde. Die Windmühle war im Mittelalter zunächst im Fernen Osten (Seistan) dann im Westen (beiderseits des Ärmelkanals) unabhängig voneinander bei gänzlich andersartiger Konstruktion entstanden.

The Witt Library of the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, is one of the world's greatest art history libraries. It contains some 1.7 million illustrations of the work of painters, draughtsmen, and engravers of the Western tradition, all of whom have been indexed by name, dates, and nationality. This new second edition of the Checklist of Painters is a transcription of the Witt index as it currently exists. The names of 66,000 artists, their dates, and their nationality (or school) are reproduced in alphabetical order. The Checklist of Painters is probably the most exhaustive work of its kind in existence; it now lists all painters (known by art historians) to have lived and worked from the year 1200 to 1994. It will be an important reference text in the art history collection of any public, academic, or professional library.
