Land Art Live

Flevoland has a unique collection of Land Art, including De Groene Kathedraal by Marinus Boezem, Observatorium by Robert Morris and Riff, PD#18245 by Bob Gramsma.0These Land Art works once stood in the empty polder, but are now part of a dynamic landscape transformation. Views on art and its social significance have also changed in the five decades this book covers. This raises questions about the preservation of the works and of the collection as a whole. 0'Land Art Live. The Flevoland Collection' sheds light on the Land Art in Flevoland. A younger generation of artists was asked to use performances to connect with the original meaning of the Land Art works. In addition, experts in the field of visual art, heritage and landscape provide ideas with which the future of this exceptional collection and the landscape can be shaped. Land Art Live can also be used as a guide when visiting this extraordinary open-air museum.

The official catalogue for the 2021 New Museum Triennial, a global survey of today's up-and-coming artists. The New Museum's Triennial, curated by Jamilla James and Margot Norton, is a signature survey of emerging artists from around the world. In this moment of profound change, where structures once thought to be stable have been revealed to be precarious, the 2021 Triennial showcases 40 artists and collectives reimagining traditional models, materials, and techniques beyond established institutional paradigms. Their works explore states of transformation, calling attention to the malleability of structures and the fluid and adaptable potential of both technological and organic media.00Exhibition: New Museum, New York, USA (10.07.2021 - 01.23.2022).

Intellectual Birdhouse

Artistic practices are manifold and highly diverse. In recent years, a claim towards research has become meaningful to many practitioners of art. Intellectual Birdhouse gives room to a number of acteurs to unfold their attitudes towards this claim. In this book, 'artistic research' is assumed as being independent of 'discipline', with the potential to occur in all contexts once epistemological expectations have shifted. This approach foregrounds questions concerning the type of models, terms and concepts that elucidate the processes and outcomes of epistemic-artistic practices while recalling theoretical debates steeped in tradition.Intellectual Birdhouse contains contributions from artists such as Renée Green and Hito Steyerl, and from writers/theorists such as Sarat Maharaj and Tom Holert.

Although its early films featured racial caricatures and exclusively Caucasian heroines, Disney has, in recent years, become more multicultural in its filmic fare and its image. From Aladdin and Pocahontas to the Asian American boy Russell in Up, from the first African American princess in The Princess and the Frog to "Spanish-mode" Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 3, Disney films have come to both mirror and influence our increasingly diverse society. This essay collection gathers recent scholarship on representations of diversity in Disney and Disney/Pixar films, not only exploring race and gender, but also drawing on perspectives from newer areas of study, particularly sexuality/queer studies, critical whiteness studies, masculinity studies and disability studies. Covering a wide array of films, from Disney's early days and "Golden Age" to the Eisner era and current fare, these essays highlight the social impact and cultural significance of the entertainment giant. This book summarizes the current knowledge of two-dimensional oxide materials. The fundamental properties of 2-D oxide systems are explored in terms of atomic structure, electronic behavior and surface chemistry. The concept of polarity in determining the stability of 2-D oxide layers is examined, charge transfer effects in ultrathin oxide films are reviewed as well as the role of defects in 2-D oxide films. The novel structure concepts that apply in oxide systems of low dimensionality are addressed, and a chapter giving an overview of state-of-the-art theoretical methods for electronic structure determination of nanostructured oxides is included. Special emphasis is given to a balanced view from the experimental and the theoretical side. Two-dimensional materials, and 2-D oxides in particular, have outstanding behavior due to dimensionality and proximity effects. Several chapters treat prototypical model systems as illustrative examples to discuss the peculiar physical and chemical properties of 2-D oxide systems. The chapters are written by renowned experts in the field.
