Este libro reporta dos experiencias investigativas: "Iniciacion de procesos autonomos a traves de la reflexion de estudiantes y docentes acerca del uso de estrategias de aprendizaje" y "Caracterizacion de la autonomia en los estudiantes de primer semestre de Idiomas Modernos y Lenguas Extranjeras de una Universidad Publica Colombiana." El objetivo principal de estas investigaciones se relaciono con guiar a los estudiantes en la adquisicion de habilidades metacognitivas, en el aprendizaje de ingles como lengua extranjera, a fin de encaminarlos para ser eventualmente estudiantes mas autonomos. Los resultados de estas dos experiencias mostraron procesos iniciales de autonomia dado que entre otros aspectos, los estudiantes fueron conscientes de las estrategias que utilizan o a las que pueden recurrir para el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera."
