JoanGeorgiusLange S. HoelscherSchembecker (1774-1841) was born in Wadersloh, Germany and married Anna Catharina Lange (1779-1854). They became the parents of Heinrich Lange (1823-1902) who married Elisabeth Hoevekamp (1828-1887), and was the ancestor of Rudolph Lange (1929- ) who was born in Oelde, Germany. He married Ursel Sophie Athmer (1935- ) and they eventually immigrated to the United States where they settled in Texas. They are the parents of four children. Descendants live in Texas and England.

The book contains a complete catalogue of the almost 20,000 Swedish dissertations defended in Uppsala, Lund and Åbo, 1600 to 1820. The catalogue includes longer comments and descriptions of a few thousand of these dissertations, and also gives an analysis of how different subjects have evolved over time.
