Versione in Bianco e nero. Il volume che arriva oggi a questa edizione riveduta ed ampliata vuole ricordare Alessandro Anselmi, come architetto e come uomo, tramite le parole di prestigiosi colleghi, amici e studiosi che con lui hanno lavorato e condiviso difficoltà e speranze. Nato in occasione della conferenza organizzata alla Facoltà di Architettura di Roma, in occasione del trigesimo della scomparsa di Anselmi, promossa da Franco Purini e dal coordinatore del dottorato di Architettura Teorie e progetto Antonino Saggio, il libro fornisce un ricco ritratto della figura di Anselmi che sonda non solo gli aspetti legati alla ricerca architettonica, ma anche quelli del suo impegno come uomo politico e didatta. In quattro blocchi tematici "Disegno ed enigmi", "Vuoto", "Visioni", "Interruzioni" dodici giovani dottorandi arricchiscono il volume con spunti di riflessioni che spostano l'operatività del grande architetto al domani: "Frammenti di Futuro".

Il volume si articola intorno a cinque blocchi tematici: diagramma, struttura, modello, pelle e ibridazione. Tali ambiti sono i catalizzatori degli scritti a firma di autori di volumi monografici su UNStudio, nonché dei saggi degli architetti del Dottorato di Ricerca in Architettura - Teorie e Progetto a "Sapienza" Università di Roma. All'interno del volume vi è anche il resoconto del workshop sui processi progettuali dello studio olandese tenutosi in occasione di un Simposio presso il Museo MAXXI di Roma. Nell'insieme si tratta di un libro particolarmente approfondito su uno degli studi internazionali di maggiore rilevanza nell'applicazione delle Rivoluzione informatica in architettura: un testo indispensabile per quanti vogliono comprendere a fondo ragioni e strumenti di una ricerca e non solo ammirarne gli straordinari esiti che sono presentati nel volume con le belle immagini fornite da Ben van Berkel che ha seguito con amicizia ed interesse la redazione di questo atipico volume.

Tre saggi caratterizzano il volume. Il primo è di Giovanna De Sanctis Ricciardone, una personalità che ha attraversato gli ultimi cinquant'anni di lavoro nella città di Roma nel campo dell'architettura, della politica e dell'arte. Il secondo è di Luigi Franciosini che rappresenta una figura di spicco nel rapporto tra stratificazioni storiche e progettazione architettonica. Il terzo è di Antonino Saggio, studioso dei rapporti tra informatica e architettura e coordinatore del Dottorato di ricerca in Architettura - Teoria e Progetto. I diversi saggi illuminano con angolature diverse e personali alcuni aspetti della progettazione contemporanea. Undici architetti iscritti al Dottorato intessono relazioni tra il proprio lavoro e le tematiche illustrate."Roma Cosmo Materia Cultura" fornisce in definitiva un'apertura non convenzionale, ma ricca di spunti e tematiche molto pertinenti in particolare alla città di Roma, alla sua storia e ai sui suoi sviluppi futuri.

3^ Edizione. Nell'attuale fase storica è necessario limitare il consumo di suolo agricolo per focalizzare l'attenzione verso il recupero dei "vuoti urbani". A questo fine è necessario creare "infrastrutture di nuova generazione" che possano "invertire la direzione dello sviluppo". Il Tevere è ripensato in questa luce attraverso cinque principi fondamentali che vanno dalla multifunzionalità alla presenza di sistemi ecologici, dalla mobilità alla presenza di reti informatiche al rilancio del ruolo civico e simbolico del fiume.Il volume ripercorre l'approccio al progetto urbano "Tevere cavo", sia nei suoi aspetti teorici che in quelli metodologici e consente di esaminare più di cinquanta progetti per molte aree del grande settore che segue l'andamento del fiume nel settore nord di Roma. Architecture is not separate from us - it is not something to be judged merely by its formal properties, its satisfaction of programmatic concerns or its performance in terms of technical parameters. We are not dismissing the importance of these factors but wish to enrich them, to understand and articulate how architecture can capture and express unseen layers of meaning and purpose. We want to think of architecture as a verb, a mover, a shaper, an active agent in human flourishing. In order to appreciate the potential power of architecture we want to explore the experience of architecture, and the intimately related experience of making architecture. Turning our attention to experience requires that we listen to and consider knowledge from a full array of disciplines. Experience is multi-dimensional, multi-directional, irreducible.
