I cimiteri longobardi utilizzati come fonti preziose di informazione sul passato, e in particolare sull’uso simbolico della cultura materiale. Alla luce delle più recenti teorie sull’archeologia funeraria e dell’etnicità, l’autrice indaga nel dettaglio alcuni contesti funerari di ambito longobardo in Ungheria (Hagiko, Szentendte, Tamasi) e nel Friuli (Cividale, Liariis, Romans d’Isonzo), dove i Longobardi migrarono nel 568. I risultati dell’indagine permettono di avanzare interessanti ipotesi sull’evoluzione delle pratiche funerarie e sul loro significato ideologico e sociale.

32 papers consider issues of pottery production in the wider Adriatic area during Roman times, in particular relation to landscape and communication features, ceramic building materials, as well as general studies on ceramic production, pottery and glass finds.

This volume presents almost 100 papers deriving from the 6th International Conference on Late Roman Coarse Wares, Cooking Wares and Amphorae in the Mediterranean. Themes comprise sea and land routes, workshops and production centres, and regional contexts (western Mediterranean, eastern Mediterranean, Sicily and the Mediterranean islands).
Legions and Veterans
A collection of 21 papers written by Keppie during the last 30 years which reflect his interests in the settlement of Veterans in Italy during the Augustan period and in the legions of Roman Britain. The essays, based on a detailed scrutiny of the abundant epigraphic evidence, examine the changing role of the legions during the transformation from Republic to Empire, imperial legions in Britain and the East and the evidence for veteran colonies. Each paper, all but three previously published, retains its original format.

V 26 prispevkih 54 avtorjev iz osmih držav (Italije, Slovenije, Avstrije, Madžarske, Hrvaške, Srbije, Črne gore in Severne Makedonije) poskuša razširiti védenje o razvoju mest in nekaterih drugih pomembnih naselij. Birthday of the Eagle
One of the most important festivals for a Roman legion was the birthday of the eagle, which celebrated the anniversary of the legion's foundation. For the Second Augustan Legion, based in Caerleon, this was 23 September, birthday of the Emperor Augustus. The National Museum celebrated this date for ten years with a prestigious lecture. These lectures, tracing the life and history of the Legion and related topics, became of international renown, and are finally available as an anthology, beautifully produced in hardback with new illustrations.
