We proudly present the proceedings of 2nd International Seminar on Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies 2020 (STRUKTURAL 2020). It focuses on how disruptive era influences participants field of researches, especially in Humanities and Social Studies. As we know, the world today is changing and the world we are facing now is the one where everything is connected. Not only are our PCs, our tablets, our hand phones, and other devices connected but everything that happens in societies is also now “connected”. Today, even a robbery incident in a small village has a possibility to make a city in another part of the world collapse. This butterfly effect of social change may also give a big impact in our understanding and our field of study of social sciences and humanities. More than 70 manuscripts were presented at this conference with around 41 of them selected to be published in proceedings. We hope by this conference, discussions on how research on humanities and social studies is possible in a disruptive era will give a perspective for the social and humanities studies development.
The book Counter-narrative and Ambivalent Discourse towards Christianity in African Postcolonial Literature explores the encounters and conflicts between Christianity and African traditional culture represented in three African postcolonial literature: Achebe's Arrow of God, Thiong'o's The River Between, and p'Bitek's Song of Lawino. Using postcolonial perspective, this book reveals a counter-narrative discourse against the arrival of Christianity in the three African postcolonial literary works and highlights the ambivalent nature of this resistance, as the authors cannot escape the trap of conformity to Chtistianity and Western hegemony. Christianity, as a missionary and culturally-destructive religion in postcolonial Africa, is considered complex religion that can have both positive and negative effects on traditional African societies. While it can be a ideological tool of colonialism that destabilizes the fabric of local life, it also provides solutions to some local problems. This new religious belief disrupts the social structure and cultural traditional in the context of African postcolonial society.

In the tradition Huckleberry Finn and The Catcher in the Rye, Russell Banks’s quintessential novel of a disaffected homeless youth living on the edge of society “redefines the young modern anti-hero. . . . Rule of the Bone has its own culture and language, and Bone is sure to become a beloved character for generations” (San Francisco Chronicle). When we first meet him, Chappie is a punked-out teenager living with his mother and abusive stepfather in an upstate New York trailer park. During this time, he slips into drugs and petty crime. Rejected by his parents, out of school and in trouble with the police, he claims for himself a new identity as a permanent outsider; he gets a crossed-...
