The series Manuals of Romance Linguistics (MRL) aims to present a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview of Romance linguistics. It will comprise approximately 60 volumes that can either be consulted individually or used as a series of books providing a detailed overall picture of the current state of research in Romance linguistics. A special focus will be placed on the presentation and analysis of the smaller languages, the linguae minores.
SEMPER - Secure Electronic Marketplace for Europe
This monograph constitutes a major contribution to the development of secure electronic commerce. The book is based on the European R&D project SEMPER - Secure Electronic Marketplace for Europe which aims at securing electronic commerce as a whole by developing a technical security framework realized as a middleware. The first part of this monograph presents an introduction to electronic commerce in general and provides an overview of the proposed solutions; this part is accessible to everybody seriously interested in the topic and does not require a technical background except some basic familiarity with the Internet. The second part presents fundamentally new scientific and engineering results and sets the scene for future R&D activities in securing electronic commerce.

The Lloyd’s Register of Yachts was first issued in 1878, and was issued annually until 1980, except during the years 1916-18 and 1940-46. Two supplements containing additions and corrections were also issued annually. Digital Privacy
This book documents the R&D outcome of the PRIME Project, an R&D project partially funded by the European Union’s Sixth Framework Programme and the Swiss Federal Office for Education and Science. PRIME has focused on privacy-enhancing identity management techniques and systems to support users’ sovereignty over their personal privacy and enterprises’ privacy-compliant data processing. During the course of four years, the project has involved over a hundred researchers and professionals from 22 major European academic and industrial organizations conducting R&D work in areas relevant to digital privacy. The book presents 28 detailed chapters organized in five parts: Introductory summary, legal, social, and economic aspects, realization of privacy-enhancing user-centric identity management, exploitation of PRIME results for applications, conclusions drawn and an outlook on future work. As the first coherent presentation of the topic, this book will serve as a valuable source of reference and inspiration for anybody working on digital privacy.
