Competências Digitais Docentes
Com a constante inovação das tecnologias educacionais existentes, é importante não apenas que o docente esteja instrumentalizado, apto a usá-las efetivamente e a aplicá-las, mas também a experimentar novas ferramentas, desenvolvendo autonomia em um processo contínuo de busca por novas possibilidades para ampliação da qualidade da experiência dos estudantes. Este livro é fruto da pesquisa-ação em torno da Formação de Competências Digitais, organizada pelo Centro de Ensino e Aprendizagem da PUCPR, para os docentes da instituição. Escrevemos para docentes que desejam ser capazes de criar experiências de aprendizagem no mundo digital, de forma autônoma, promovendo oportunidades de engajamento dos estudantes, integrando as presenças social, cognitiva e de ensino. Para esta reflexão, nos fundamentamos nos princípios da Educação Híbrida e na Comunidade de Investigação para experiências de aprendizagem significativas. Também apresentamos a Padagogy Wheel como um modelo mental para planejamento de aulas e atividades que usarão tecnologias digitais.
Tecnologias digitais na educação híbrida
Investigar a sociedade contemporânea significa também ponderar as práticas inseridas, nesse cenário, pelas tecnologias digitais (TD), tendo em vista que as tecnologias trazem mudanças em diversas esferas da sociedade, inclusive no âmbito da educação. Por esse motivo, é imprescindível debruçar-se sobre fenômenos que envolvem a presença das tecnologias digitais em espaços educativos, o que inclui a investigação acerca da educação híbrida, considerando que ela pressupõe a mescla entre o presencial e o online. Outro ponto a ser observado é o papel do professor enquanto mediador, uma vez que trabalhar com TD na sala de aula tende a estabelecer um paralelo entre o conteúdo e a realidade de vida dos alunos, à medida que se tratam de sujeitos imersos na sociedade permeada pelas tecnologias, oportunizando, desse modo, um cenário de aprendizagem significativa. Nesta obra, fruto de sua dissertação de mestrado, a autora analisa o processo de mediação pedagógica na prática da educação híbrida em uma sala de aula do ensino básico utilizando o método rotação por estações.
Coleção Janela do Saber – Brincadeiras e Jogos (Volume 3)
O seguinte estudo foi elaborado primeiramente em formato de artigo para o projeto de conclusão de curso originado a partir de uma revisão bibliográfica. O interesse por esse tema surgiu de forma pessoal e das observações do brincar tanto na Educação Infantil quanto nos ambientes não escolares que envolviam algum tipo de mídia, animações, filmes, jogos, tanto no desenvolvimento da história, brinquedos, roupas etc., quanto no uso de novas tecnologias, como celulares, tablets, computadores etc. Nesse sentido, é interessante para o professor conhecer os contextos em que os estudantes estão inseridos, as novas formas de aprendizagem e como utilizar os recursos que as novas tecnologias oferecem. Assim, esse trabalho adaptado apresenta, em seu Itinerário de Aprendizagem, os conceitos de jogos e brincadeiras da infância e jogos educativos nas novas tecnologias, destacando os jogos digitais como um recurso para o aprendizado. Ao final, são sugeridas algumas opções de estilos de jogos e como podem ser recursos criativos que auxiliam na aprendizagem e no desenvolvimento da criança.

Federated Learning
How is it possible to allow multiple data owners to collaboratively train and use a shared prediction model while keeping all the local training data private? Traditional machine learning approaches need to combine all data at one location, typically a data center, which may very well violate the laws on user privacy and data confidentiality. Today, many parts of the world demand that technology companies treat user data carefully according to user-privacy laws. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a prime example. In this book, we describe how federated machine learning addresses this problem with novel solutions combining distributed machine learning, cryptography and security, and incentive mechanism design based on economic principles and game theory. We explain different types of privacy-preserving machine learning solutions and their technological backgrounds, and highlight some representative practical use cases. We show how federated learning can become the foundation of next-generation machine learning that caters to technological and societal needs for responsible AI development and application.

Representation Learning for Natural Language Processing
This open access book provides an overview of the recent advances in representation learning theory, algorithms and applications for natural language processing (NLP). It is divided into three parts. Part I presents the representation learning techniques for multiple language entries, including words, phrases, sentences and documents. Part II then introduces the representation techniques for those objects that are closely related to NLP, including entity-based world knowledge, sememe-based linguistic knowledge, networks, and cross-modal entries. Lastly, Part III provides open resource tools for representation learning techniques, and discusses the remaining challenges and future research directions. The theories and algorithms of representation learning presented can also benefit other related domains such as machine learning, social network analysis, semantic Web, information retrieval, data mining and computational biology. African Dynamics in a Multipolar World
Fifty years after the foundation of the OAU and the consolidation of most African states and institutions, the international panorama and Africa’s position in it have changed considerably. The world's geopolitical and economic configuration has evolved, with new actors appearing in a new period of globalization.
