På baggrund af en omfattende baggrundsviden går forfatteren ind og væver sit historiske kildemateriale om denne centrale midtjyske gård sammen til en levende og spændende fortælling. Bogen henvender sig til historieinteresserede – særligt læsere med interesse for det midtjyske. Axel Steensberg (1906-1999) var en dansk folkekulturhistoriker. Han havde en baggrund som landmand samt en akademisk uddannelse. Han arbejdede fra 1946-1959 som leder på Nationalmuseet. Siden blev han professor på Københavns Universitet og fungerede i øvrigt som rådgiver for UNESCO. I løbet af sin karriere udgav han en lang række bøger, især om landbrug, bønder og landbrugskultur.
