Learning and Teaching in the Music Studio
This book advocates for a radical change in music teaching and learning methods, allowing for a break from the traditional conservatory model still in use in many classrooms. Nuevas formas de pensar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje
Muchos son los recursos, medios y sistemas que debemos emplear para mejorar la educación, pero entre ellos, y éste es el argumento central del presente libro, el más importante es sin duda cambiar las mentes de quienes enseñan y de quienes aprenden. Necesitamos nuevas concepciones, nuevas formas de vivir el aprendizaje y la enseñanza tanto por parte de profesores como de alumnos, porque sólo así podremos lograr que en nuestras aulas la enseñanza conduzca al aprendizaje. Diversas voces se aúnan en una misma propuesta teórica, al tiempo renovadora y sencilla, según la cual la única forma de cambiar la educación es cambiar a las personas que la hacen posible. This book offers a comprehensive overview of research at interface between History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science (HPSS) and Science Teaching in Ibero-America. It contributes to research on contextualization of science for students, teachers and researchers, and explains how to use different episodes of history of science or different themes of philosophy of science in regular science classes through diverse pedagogical approaches. The chapters in this book discuss a wide range of topics under different methodological, epistemological and didactic approaches, reflecting the richness of research developed in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Just like representations in everyday life, this book shows that represenations are ubiquitous to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the STEM disciplines. "Show Me What You Know" showcases research on representations across a range of STEM disciplines and ages, from children as young as 2 years of age to professional mathematicians. The text highlights the importance of paying close attention to learners' interpretations and productions of different representations as a source of evidence for what learners understand, and another way for learners to "show us what they know'. The text is organized around four themes: appropriation of representations, making meaning, highlighting, and representations as scaffold and supports.
