Screening Minors in Latin American Cinema is the first volume to delve into the construction of children's subjectivity and agency in Latin American film, and addresses such questions as: How and to what extent do films express the point of view of the child? How do plots and film practices represent children’s subjectivity and agency? Childhood studies has demonstrated the importance of examining the lives of children. Building on those insights, together with current research from film studies and Latin American cultural studies, the essays in this volume analyze the development of agency and voices of minors in contemporary Latin American film. The theoretical perspectives used—gender studies, psychoanalytic and postcolonial theory, film studies, play and performance studies, and emotion studies, among others—take into account innovative approaches to filmic techniques as they explore the varied representations of children.

Este livro é um dos resultados do seminário realizado com Patrice Flichy, no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências da Comunicação da Unisinos, institulado Os amadores no mundo digital: ruma a uma nova democracia das competências, numa iniciativa do Grupo de Pesquisa em Midiatização e Processos Sociais e Epistecom. O seminário se realizou no âmbito do projeto Midiatização e Tecnologias Digitais/Escola de Altos Estudos/CAPES e foi apresentado em torno de três eixos: o imaginário tecnológico contemporâneo; o indivíduo em busca de sua identidade; e as práticas culturais dos amadores. Este livro aborda, teórica e empiricamente, os três eixos, numa diversidade que transita pelo indivíduo, as instituições, as tecnologias e os meios. Ele é um dos três que compõem a série relativa aos seminários desenvolvidos no projeto, que teve também participação de Bernard Miège e Serge Prouxl.
Feminismos, Identidades, Comparativismos: Vertentes nas Literaturas de Língua Inglesa Vol. XII
O décimo segundo volume de Feminismos, identidades, comparativismos: vertentes nas literaturas de língua inglesa reúne, da mesma forma que toda a série publicada anualmente desde 2003, trabalhos das professoras do Curso de Mestrado em Literaturas de Língua Inglesa, que é ligado ao Programa de Pós-Graduação do Instituto de Letras da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Os ensaios que compõem os capítulos desta obra contemplam uma diversidade de temas e apontam para a pluralidade de questões abordadas a partir de uma das linhas de pesquisa do MLLI, cujos títulos são: “Literatura e Comparativismo” e “A Voz e o Olhar do Outro: questões de gênero e/ou etnia nas literaturas de língua inglesa”. Os diálogos aqui presentes, por vezes, ultrapassam o campo dos estudos literários e dos estudos culturais, ilustrando parte do interesse acadêmico de cada uma das pesquisadoras. Ao chegarmos a este volume número 12, renovamos os agradecimentos ao PPGL da UERJ pelo apoio dado e torcemos para que possamos dar continuidade a esta série, sempre procurando contribuir para aprofundamento de discussões em torno de nosso objeto comum do desejo que é a literatura.
